Christmas cactus must have gotten her dates mixed up because she is in full bloom and it's still November.
That's just in time for Thanksgiving!
Oh, she's a beautiful cactus and her blooms are a delicate pastel pink.
She's now a centerpiece on the kitchen table.
Looking at her in all kinds of light makes my heart sing.

Hi Susan, What a beautiful bloom! So elegant! That is funny that it is blooming at Thanksgiving. I do not have one but was noticing them the other day at the store and how pretty they are.

I have these growing but in Australia they don't bloom at Christmas...they bloom in July/ August... our winter months... I love them too.... Barb xxxx
Beautiful blooms! I haven't had a Christmas cactus in years. To be honest, I'm not a fan of houseplants (only outdoor gardening), and yet my houseplant collection continues to grow, lol, no pun intended. It's just that in our tiny little house, there aren't many window spaces for all of these plants. In answer to your question though, when I did have a Christmas cactus many years ago, yes, it bloomed throughout the year actually. Many of these plants (like Easter lilies, for instance), are not really due to bloom at that exact appropriate time, but are forced into it by the growers who supply them to retailers for those specific occasions. My Easter Lily, for instance, which now grows in the garden, blooms in the summer of course, since Easter is still winter time here.

I have a christmas cactus that spends the summer outside on the porch, when it comes in usually in September then it starts to bloom so I have a Halloween Cactus. Then again it was purchased in 1976....it is allowed a bit of confusion. I find the less you care for them the better they bloom. Mine is original red, your pink is pretty

Susan, the pumpkin pie was a picture from two years ago. Three pies were made that year and a rhubarb pie too! My brother-in-law gave us some jars of rhubarb so we made a pie from it. I will only be making two pumpkin pies this year. :)
How gorgeous. Mine went over a month without water, which I know doesn't hurt it but I wonder if I should water it more often now to get it to bloom! Happy Thanksgiving!
