"Angel" Grandchildren Painted on the Ceiling at a New England Inn

Parents and grandparents around the world would certainly agree  when a child is born, the angels sing.

A baby is such a precious gift that gives hope to the world.

The saying "When a child is born, the angels sing" is inscribed on the fireplace in the music room of the Penrose Victorian Inn in Western Massachusetts.  (Letters shown at top of post).

(Fireplace in the inn's music room.)

Can you imagine having your grandchildren painted as angels on a ceiling in your home?

At the Penrose Victorian Inn, Innkeepers Nancy and Dick Zimmer had an artist do exactly that!

The artist actually painted the "angels" on a wood "canvas" which was then attractively attached to the ceiling.

I had never seen anything like that in a home and loved it as it's so unique, don't you think?

A beautiful dollhouse, made by Nancy's father, is also in the inn's music room.

  2. Oh my goodness that was very unique, Was it just angels per say or were the faces of the angels the real faces of the babies? You sure did have a great time and I am glad. I am really not into Victorian - but I love the history of it, would like to have lived a week in those times. Sandie

  4. What a beautiful saying about the Angels. It looks so nice written on the fireplace. This is a sweet doll house. I've always wanted one........maybe someday.

ps to answer your question.....I just love the Victorian décor. Lots of roses
and lovely furniture. I used to have it in my home many years ago. It's so
feminine, and I like the outfits that were worn in that era also. I collect
pretty Victorian tea cups. : )

  5. I like wrap around porches on Victorian era homes. there's an entire community near Branson, MO and all the homes are a delight to see.

I saw a rug painted on the floor of an old home in St. Charles, an historic town where many of the small brick homes on Main Street have been converted to quaint little shops. The rug even had fringe. I was impressed.
