Fireplace Warmth in Spring

The plan was to place fat candles and faux flowers in the living room fireplace until late fall.

The winter of 2017 was, after all, over.

Uhhhhh, no. It wasn't.

We had some cold, dark, and very chilly days just last week.

On one of those early evenings, as cold filtered in, hubs built yet one more fire in the living room fireplace.

It was quite comfy sitting nearby, basking in the warmth.

I watched the flames until they were just burning embers, then turned out the lights and went to sleep.

Now for those candles and flowers...

DO YOU LIKE WOOD BURNING FIREPLACES?

  1. Do gas logs count? Yes I love them. So what color is your mantel - I think it is kind of pinkish? I love it. Very romantic. sandie

  4. We've never had a fireplace, but I ADORE wood burning fireplaces. The closest thing we have is 2 firepit fireplaces in the yard and we use those regularly on cool and even not cool evenings. Warmest April on record here where I live, though there have still been cool evenings and according to some people - cool days, but I don't consider 50s and 60s that cool. :)

  5. Your fireplace sounds nice and cozy, Susan. Yes, we could have started a fire this Spring, as there were many cold rainy days. But I just turned the heater on a few times. I bet it was nice watching the flames die down until you went to sleep.

    Happy May, Susan!

  6. Comfy and cozy is what your fireplace is. It's been chilly here too.

  7. Love fireplaces but have never had one. Yours looks inviting, but I'd rather have warm weather. We live 10 miles from a river that is making most of our area inaccessible, closing highways and main roads. A flooded mess. Looking forward to summer.

  8. I have a wood burning fireplace as well as gas which I hardly ever use...maybe three times a year especially around the Christmas holidays . It's warm year round in So Cal. When I lived in Massachusetts I never had a fireplace..go figure..hope spring comes soon for you.
