A Child at Heart

The world is a very different place when seen through a child's eyes.

Children seem to see more beauty, more colors, and more things to smile about.

It's very refreshing and something to strive to emulate.

Gingerbread houses. to me, have always been something special.

Throughout the decades, while raising children, and then grandchildren, it would be impossible to count how many hundreds of gingerbread houses have been made.

Baking the spicey walls, roof, and other parts of the houses always made the house smell wonderful.

There was even a ceramic gingerbread house, too,  that was part of our decor for a long time.

This year, it was given away to someone who loved it and wanted it.

So, of course, it was serendipity when, perusing a hospital gift shop, a very small gingerbread house on a shelf, grabbed my attention.

It even had lights inside.

Of course, it made its way to my new apartment and looks adorable on the top of a small bookshelf.

It is hoped my inner child never grows up.
