This first Sunday of Advent marks the time Christians start to prepare for the birth of Christ.
The four weeks before the birth of the Baby King, who saved the world, help prepare us to remember that blessed event.
In the midst of all the frenzy of the world and long lines of shoppers buying more goods, it's important to stop and think about the real reason for the season.
It's so easy to forget all about why we are celebrating the Christmas season.
First and foremost, it is to remember the birth of the baby King and the circumstances leading up to it.
Today, as Advent begins, may you find deep contentment and serenity amid the noise and busyness of the season.

The basis of the Christmas holiday has been somewhat lost under the competing religions of consumerism, materialism, "stuff" there was a story on the British Daily Mail about a woman in the US who bought a big load of roast chickens, angering shoppers and social media netizens. She was later seen at her makeshift serving station on the street on Thanksgiving, feeding the many homeless and other poor folks. A good example for all of us.
Just last evening, I was thinking about how material things (gifts) have become the main focus of Christmas rather than the Birth of Jesus. This is a wonderful reminder to get our priorities in order and to follow the star of how Christmas came about in the first place. The Birth of our Lord and Savior.
Wise men still seek Him!
What a beautiful picture for the first Sunday of Advent.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season, dear Susan.
