Wooden Polish Easter Eggs

A long time ago, many decades as a matter of fact, I first became introduced to wooden Easter eggs from Poland.

There was a store in the city where we lived at that time.

Whenever the gorgeously designed eggs came into sight, I wanted them, but they were expensive for our budget.

So, one by one, they came home. It took a long time to collect a bunch of them.

Well, here we are, years later, and those eggs are still with me.

They could probably use a new coat of clear varnish but to me, they are still lovely.

Like so many things in life, they are remembrances of a different, more gentle time.

Beautiful, making such Easter eggs requires skill and talent, I can still knit and crochet, but I couldn't draw something so beautiful.
In Croatia, we cook eggs in onion skins for Easter, so they are both beautiful and edible.

When I visited in Poland many years ago I bought some of those beautiful wooden eggs home with me and I still have them on my dining room table in a basket with a purple ribbon on the basket. I love mine too. They never get old at all...still lovely.

Oh, those Polish Easter eggs are something else, Susan. I'm glad you show them to us every year. They fit nicely in your glass egg dish. I appreciate them each year, as I'm part Polish too! They look lovely sitting next to your lambs. Have a blessed week, Susan.
