Memories....

Flowers are in my daughter's back yard.

This morning brought back many memories.

It's the first day of school for some of my precious grandchildren.

Two others have already made this transition and are settling in.

All the kids were a little nervous and would have preferred slipping out the door to the back yard to play today.

The mood of the day made me think of all the years when my own two kids were growing up.

The first day of school was always very special.

Kindergarten was the most difficult because the mother (me), couldn't stop crying. But she survived.

The years pass quickly and soon it's the first day of high school, then university classes!

In a flash, it's grandchildren climbing up the school bus steps.

Life goes by so fast.  Enjoy each moment.

Best of luck to all the brave little souls stepping into freshly decorated classrooms today and bless all the teachers, too.

The first day of school was always nerve wracking for me as a teacher too. Getting to know the kids took a while but I loved my job. Schools around the USA start at different times and days now. We never started till after Labor Day but my grands have been in school almost two weeks now and it's only August. Yes time goes by so quickly but memories live forever.

Teachers are so special, and I hope they have a good year with their students this school year. All three of mine were different when school started. Nel was ready to go. Jess was only 4, turning 5, but she was a brave one. And my son didn't like kindergarten at all. He eventually enjoyed it having a best friend in his class. I know you have such fond memories of your children's' school days, Susan. The school year goes by so quickly. And I hope you had good school years yourself.

Oh yes those first days of school were always just a bit hard in the beginning. For us those growing up in the 50's and 60's we were fortunate to not have to go back until the day after Labor Day and was out by Memorial Day. Three full months of summer bliss - now the kids start back so soon. Guess they have more holidays and days off during the school year but still it was nice to enjoy " those lazy crazy days of summer...wish they would never end!"
