A Duck Pond In Connecticut

A duck pond at Olde Mistic Village in Mystic, Connecticut, is filled with the feathered creatures.

Walking along the sidewalks in the quaint Early American village setting, the sight of the ducks in the pond draws the attention of visitors. On an icy, cold day, the dozens of ducks, some with shiny green heads, seem oblivious to the chilly temps as they splash in the water. With all the noise, wing flapping, and splashing, they sound like a group of kids at the swimming hole.

Some of the ducks come out of the pond and waddle on the sidewalk with passersby brave enough to stay out in the cold, instead of ducking into stores (pardon the pun). Oblivious to the humans, the ducks stride up and down the sidewalk as if they own it.

A big fellow lifts up his head and makes noises like a fog horn, showing rows of tiny teeth to a curious visitor. He makes me laugh but I wouldn't want him to nibble at my ankle.

There are so many kinds of creatures on this earth that it boggles the mind. Ducks are among the most curious. Some in the pond are quite attractive while others would never win a beauty contest.

A white bird flies down and perches on a railing, making a perfect photo opportunity.

The Village has more than 60 shops so shopaholics can have a hay day. There's a Victorian Gazebo, benches for resting, and easily accessible sidewalks throughout. It's definitely worth a second visit, especially in the spring when the weather warms up. People on the east coast can make the trip just to visit the ducks!

Thanks for sharing them. I bet all those ducks ARE noisy.
