Front Yard Ablaze with Color for Susan's Between Naps on the Porch Metamorphosis Monday!

This year, I decided to stick with a two color flower theme for the front yard, namely, red and white.

Just thought I'd show you how things are coming along. Thanks to my husband (he's the one with the green thumb, not me. I just buy the plants I like and he plants them. Isn't that a great arrangment?)

I love the look of flowers in a front yard.  If I had my way, I'd buy at least a dozen hanging flowers for the side porch, as well, but that's out of the question this year.  Still, red geraniums I bought at a Farmer's Market are filling up the white window boxes and look lovely.

Every time I see a wilting flower, I pick it off, to encourage regrowth.

One year, I had two huge pots of beautiful pink geraniums. Someone came in the night and stole both of them! It was so shocking to my husband and me that a person could be so low as to do that. They were big pots, too!

This year, however, the big pots at the top of the front stairs have been drilled into the bricks. Ha! I'd like to see somebody try to walk away with these babies.

These hostas grow like Jack in the Beanstalk plants. One day they are two inches tall and the next day, wow! They are up to your knee.

One of the bonuses of having lovely flowers is to be able to share beauty with everyone in the neighborhood who is passing by.

I love impatiens because they are so generous.
Here are the perky red geraniums in the window box. See my pink dollhouse peeking out from the side of the curtain? I love lace curtains and have them on almost all the windows of our house.

DO YOU HAVE FLOWERS IN YOUR FRONT YARD?

I don't have a lot of flowers in the front. Just some in the spring. Right now our front yard gets so much sun and heat I'm staying with my flowers on my deck!! How awful that someone stole your plants! That is low!!

Very nice flowers! I can't believe someone would steal your pots of flowers! Way to be creative and stake them down this year.

Nothing is sacred anymore - not even our plants.

Oh Susan, your plants are FABULOUS! You buy - your husband plants - sounds great to me.

Your plants and flowers look so rich and full and pretty. I can't believe someone stole your pots! I've never had that happen, but several years ago someone kept stealing my hose nozzles. I had to start keeping them in the garage. I think I was being pranked by kids.

My jasmine bushes are in full bloom and I have a gorgeous hydrangia on my patio and pretty mini roses blooming in reds and yellows. I wish I had more time for my flowers but I'm thankful for the ones I have.

Lovely flowers!! There is plenty of yellow at home in the gardens, now that I think of it. A little red, a little fucsia,, a some pink, but lots and lots of yellow. How curious!

thanks for sharing!

Why do yours look so alive and my one and only that I bought this year for my patio is so dying:(( I wonder if the heat has done it in.
Your pictures are always so pretty!!

Pretty flowers everywhere! I usually prefer white or peach or pick flowers but this year I have deep red on my patio out back and just love the pop! The red has a greater impact ~ just a few pots add more interest than more flowers in other colors.

A joy seeing your lovely flowers!

Love the color theme! Flowers are so friendly and cheery, I think, and add so much to the landscape. I have an assortment of impatiens in my beds out front, plus two hanging baskets and two potted plants with petunias on the front porch.
Thanks for sharing Susan!
Blessings,
Karen

I am a new follower- I have been planting this summer too. I have three pots of geraniums- are your leaves turning yellow? I don't know what is causing it, I don't think the bugs have gotten into it. I am trying to fill my beds (I have 5!) this week before our cookout guests come- I am in search of the perfect knock out roses to plant, I like that you can plant them in the heat. You can check out some of my recent planting: http://yoga-gal.blogspot.com/2010/04/bloom-where-you-are-planted.html. :D
