Free as a Bird

You know how wonderful it is to pull a car over to the side of a road and look at beautiful vistas?

Admittedly, I do it all the time.

There are many picturesque lakes in western Massachusetts.

No matter how many times I've seen them, they always draw me back to look at them.

One late summer's day, mine were not the only eyes surveying the beauty of the surroundings.

These birds were having the time of their lives.

They seemed to be playing, flying off the rail near the lake and then flying back.

One stood proudly on the post and took on a statuesque stance.

He seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the afternoon and the lushness of the surroundings.

Maybe he was looking at me, the human, thinking, "What are you looking at?"

For a few brief moments, I was blessed to join him and his feathered friends.

Then, each one, right down to the last, flew away and I took off in my car and drove back into reality.

DO YOU EVER STOP IN A PARTICULAR PLACE TO ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE SURROUNDINGS?  WHERE?

Like you, I have some favorite places to stop and admire; one is the bay two blocks from my home. Water is different each day, and each hour, and I like to see the pelicans flying low.

Yes, I love to capture the moment on film.

Susan,
Your post is lovely! I have also been trying to be more intentional about seeing beauty in my surroundings.
Looking through the eyes of a child is amazing, the world is seen so differently. Have a beautiful Wednesday.

I love beautiful vistas...I store them up and call them out when I sit on my deck to be there again!

What a lovely place to stop, Susan! Most of the going from place to place that I do is in an urban area, though we DO brake for the community geese.:)
The lake isn't that far from us, but we don't often make a trip in that direction.

I sure Do...LOL and I am glad you do too. I love how you ended by saying the birds flew away one by one and then you drove away back to reality. I wonder if they were also going back to reality. :)

Just beautiful photos Susan. I don't blame you, I could look at that view forever myself.
