Graceful Swan

Swans are graceful, exquisite looking creatures, especially when they are gliding by on a body of water.

Dear friends have a beach house on Long Island Sound in Connecticut that we used to go to in the summertime when our kids were little.

A highlight of every stay, for me, was seeing a family of swans on the banks of a nearby pond.

So one recent day, while doing a little skip-through in a favorite thrift store, my eyes scanned the shelves.

I wasn't looking for anything in particular. It was just a look and see few moments.

Then I looked and saw a charming amber-colored swan.

Not more than five inches long, if that, the swan just called to me.

I loved the shape of her long and graceful neck.

Don't know what that purple reflection is at the bottom but I considered it a stroke of photographic good luck. Looks, in a way, a little like a Valentine heart to me.

It was less than $3 and soooo pretty.

So now the swan sits on a small kitchen windowsill, dreaming, no doubt, like me, of spring.

DO YOU LIKE SWANS?

Hi Susan!
I like swans too, they are graceful and beautiful birds.
That glass swan is made with all that in mind, that reflection came out great! Making it more enigmatic...
Have a nice day,
Anna.

LOVE them. So beautiful! Two years in a row we had a pair on the river near us. Only two years but...way cool. I have seen them on ponds here and there.
And the "glare" on the bottom of your picture makes your swan all the more special.

Oh this beautiful swan has captured my heart. It is the most beautiful I have ever seen. It is incredulous that you paid less than $3 for it. I think in Australia it would be hundreds. I'm going back for another look,I love it so. xx

Swans are such graceful creatures that it would be very difficult not to like them! I have none for my house, however. You find the best bargains, Susan!

Susan-
Oh yes!! Swans are so graceful and magical. When I was a little girl there were two Trumpeter Swans that lived in a nearby pond-my Mom and I would always marvel over them! Thank you for giving me a smile-
Love your amber swan

Love swans...saw black ones when I went to Poland and they were gorgeous too. Grandma used to tell stories how they nested in the roof of her home there. Pretty Susan

I do love the swans; I have one that is considered a pickle dish. It is clear and is a treasure of mine from my grandmother C.

Oh, yes, I love to watch swans glide gracefully across the water! Also, I love to see a good production of "Swan Lake," or a figure-skating routine done with that music in the background. Always so graceful and lovely. Yours is just precious, and you are a GREAT shopper!! :-)

Yes I do like swans. We have a bird refuse about a half hour from here, close to where my husband just had his antique show. The swans make a visit when migrating....such a lovely bird.
Cheers.

Our house sits on Swan Lake, but sadly we haven't seen a swam on it in several years. We did, however, on our pond in Connecticut have one that thought he was a goose! We called him Baby Huey and he came to chow down like the rest of the waterfowl we fed. Beautiful piece you came upon, XOXO

Pretty swan! It was spring yesterday here, jonquils up! This morning, tornado warnings. This afternoon, finally raining. This evening, might see snow. Got to admire the bipolar weather!

Oh it is beautufl! The refracted light just adds to its sparkle.
And a wonderful memory of days gone by. You can't put a price on that.

Hi Susan,

Loved your amber swan! And what a price! I am drawn to anything amber. My mom gave me a delicate, very white, porcelain swan vase many years ago. It looks great with pine and red flowers in it for Christmas. Enjoy that swan.
