One Christmas, several years ago, a craft-oriented sister and her husband gave us an adorable snowman for the kitchen.
He carries a very endearing message and you can read it in the photos in this post.
He's got the most darling face and is just a spot of cheerfulness in the kitchen.
I still love to pull the little snowman out to help adorn the kitchen but when I see him, my heart is so sad over the loss of guy as sweet and great as my brother-in-law.
For sure, he's looking down on us from the other world and smiling, just like that little snowman keepsake!
DO SOME OF YOUR DECORATIONS SPARK SAD MEMORIES?

What a wonderful way to keep your brother-in-laws spirit alive and have him remembered in your thoughts of Christmas. I love your treasured little snowman :)
Merry Christmas.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Susan,
Your Snowman is wonderful and brings back special memories of your brother-in-law. I have a few items that I cherish that remind me of the loved ones that are now gone, but they don't make me sad. I rejoice in them because these people were a special part of my life and still in my heart. There is a ceramic box on the post that Jess did yesterday that reminds me of my mom. How nice that you put your Snowman out every Christmas.
Love,
~Sheri
Susan,
I also wanted to say how sorry I am that you lost your dear brother-in-law. I'm sure he is always in your heart too.

I know seeing the cute snowman is bittersweet, like seeing the little angel which reminds me of my late mom.
I think it is wonderful you have something that brings you memories of him. That way you will never forget him. And it is so cute and so sweet.
Yes - I certainly agree with you about having wonderful things to remind us of our loved ones!

Hello from Spain: I feel your brother in law's death by cancer ... A great loss. I like the snowman. I have some very pretty ornaments in my house that also remind me of people in my family died. I have a child Jesus in the manger of my grandmother .. Keep in touch
Yes, your little kitchen snowman must surely bring a bit of sadness, even with his happy grin. I have a Christmas card that my mom made me for almost 30 years ago wising us happiness in our new home. I always put in on the tree and like you feel a tinge of sadness.
Especially at this time of year, I think our memories come spilling out, happy and sad. They are a part of who we are and make us the unique person we have become.
Enjoy your little snowman and the happy/sad memories he brings.
Love the Snowman.
Sweet, warm memories of your brother-in-law!
A dear friend of mine died last month, and I have a handbell and glass nativity scene that she had given me. They sometimes bring a lump to my throat, but also make me so grateful for her, and, after a three-year battle with cancer, I know her suffering is over. Also, my brother died Christmas day seven years ago. All I could think of is that the considerable suffering he endured all his life ended with a Christmas celebration beyond our knowing!
A touching post...one never knows just how special a gift can become....
Susan,
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I have a lot of Christmas decorations from friends and family that have passed on and in some ways they are sad because I realize that that parson is no longer with us but then I think of the happy times and memories of that person.....
Hugs,
Deb
