A New Day Is Here!

A dear blog friend, Karen Lange, a writer as well as author of the blog "Write Now", has a column called Meet the Blogger.  Yesterday, she graciously included me and this blog! If interested, you can read it here:http://karenelange.blogspot.com/…/meet-blogger-with-susan-w…

The holiday frenzy has pretty much skidded to a stop.

There are so many Christmas decorations to take down, pack and put away in the attic.

Then, of course, lots and lots of cleaning must be done.

The season was star-studded and magical and gratitude continues to overflow my heart in this new year of life..

Today I will look back on Christmas of 2015, record all the notes made of holiday gatherings and happenings, and start writing out thank-you cards.

Also, there will be a concerted effort to give thanks for this precious new day of life and for this very moment.

They will never be here again.

HOW DO YOU COMBAT WINTER DOLDRUMS?

Winter itself is rather nice. It is a time for resting...regrouping. Snow is its own comfort and chill helps us curl up and pause. It is early spring when my blues are hardest to handle. When I am done with winter and and the spring isn't fully here yet I feel trapped between the seasons.

Winter is a time to rest and renew. I know you are one busy person and you probably never rest, what with all of your collections being brought out or put away. I believe that gratitude is the way to start every day.

I do love winter for the way it makes us slow down a bit. More time for being home and enjoying the inside pleasures of a winter day.

The short days are a bit hard to take, but we have passed the equinox and the days are getting longer, if only just a wee bit. Abundant blue skies and plenty of sun are things to be thankful for today.

Well here the rain has started and will be with us all week. It is so so welcome after four years of drought. I have a fire going in the fireplace and I'm just soaking up the atmosphere..ha ha ha.Very grateful for this "winter" weather.

The flower in your photo is one way to beat them. I have to be honest - we don't get as much of a down - USUALLY - as people in the north do. Although I am not sure about this year. It has been weird!

I especially appreciated your last point - giving thanks for this precious new day of life. We so often take it for granted, not realizing that we never know how long we have left on this earth, no matter what our age. Sometimes I don't even like to wish that summer were here, because I don't know what is going to happen between now and summertime.

Getting out and about, even day trips in the winter, and little white lights in the house are a couple ways I combat the winter. Right now, though, I'm enjoying our bright sunshine. I'm hoping to keep up a good attitude throughout January. :-)

I suppose I enjoy this time to make soups and stews. My schedule of activities that took a break for the busy holiday season, will pick back up, and I will be out and about more often! It will be a very busy month in January!

That's so nice that you write out thank you notes. Handwritten cards and notes are the best.

I know Karen's blog very well. In fact, that's how I found your blog. I love the lace tablecloth. I don't crochet, but I have a lace tablecloth that my grandmother gave us as a wedding gift almost 4 decades ago. The handwritten cards are beautiful, Susan.
