An Unwrapped Christmas Gift

Have you ever stopped to think about how much you are surrounded by beauty, no matter what the season?

Coming out of the supermarket the other day, the sun had absconded and temps had dropped to chilly.

I hurried to my car, stashed the grocery bags in the trunk, revved up the engine and prepared to go home.

Then I looked up and gasped over the splendor in the heavens.

I drove my car to the far edge of the parking lot, instead of out of it, stopped, and just stared at the gorgeous sunset.

Naturally I snapped a few photos, too, which are shared on this post.

Seeing such beauty was better than any wrapped Christmas present.

I drove home filled with a sense of wonder and gratitude.

WHAT WAS THE LAST TRULY MEMORABLE THING OF BEAUTY YOU WERE PRIVILEGED TO SEE?

How truly beautiful! I am glad you snapped pics to share. I guess the last one for me, was when my husband was sweeping off my car of snow and I was inside and since it was still snowing, snowflakes were landing on the windshield and they were quite beautiful and uniquely unlike each other. :) Kit

Beautiful...just beautiful.... I love seeing the rain drops falling outside my bedroom window. We need rain so badly and it looks so lovely to me and I love listening to it on my skylight in the living room.

WOW!

This morning I was watching my son play Minecraft and there was this fabulous red with white polka dot pattern. Amazing how things crop up in the strangest of places, like this lovely painting by the world's most famous Artist at the edge of a supermarket parking lot. He is everywhere! :-)

Happy New Year, Susan!

That is the blue hour - did you know it happens every day - you can look it up. Not sure about the pink - but AWESOME! I love that.

Did you get a new camera - those are great pics.

Beautiful pictures that capture the beauty of that sunset. Glad you had the time to sit for a few minutes to enjoy it! Thanks for sharing.

My husband and I were sitting at a window table at a local restaurant which is situated right across from the town square when all of a sudden the sky turned a fabulous pink in the gathering dusk. The Christmas Tree and lamp posts, which we could see from our seats, were all lit with Christmas lights and were twinkling in the frosty air. Two huge flocks of birds were circling round and round and landed in the highest branches of some huge maple trees. They sure had a bird's eye view of it all!

Taking time to enjoy these fleeting moments of intense beauty, which present themselves to us everyday, is truly a gift we can give ourselves.

Happy New Year to you and your family...

Oh wow! What a gift from God. I do the same thing with sunsets. I pull off the road, if possible, and just enjoy it. God's masterful artwork.

As you said so well, no matter the season, God gives us beauty all around us.
