Dreams DO Come True...

For as long as memory goes back, I have loved highboy dressers with Queen Anne legs and handsome brass pulls.

They are so regal looking and are quality pieces of furniture.

Several years ago, in a town different from the one in which I live, I spotted one in a gigantic-sized thrift store for $125 but didn't buy it.

Didn't have an extra dime at that time nor a way to get the gorgeous dresser home.  However, I never stopped thinking about that lovely high boy dresser.

Fast forward to Christmas of 2016.  Hubs gave me five $20 bills as my holiday gift.

As incredibly good luck would have it, I spotted a high boy dresser on a Habitat for Humanity ReStore website. Price?  $100.

The day before Christmas Eve, hubs and I took a ride to the ReStore, saw the dresser, loved it and bought it.

Two employees helped hoist it into the back of my hub's car, drawers and all.

Together, we got it out of the car, up the sidewalk and into the front hallway.

He got two male friends to help with the gargantuan task of hauling it upstairs to the master bedroom.

Trust me, that was no small feat.

And now, there the high boy sits in all its glory.

Every time I glance in that direction, it's impossible not to smile.

Dreams do, indeed, come true, especially at Christmas, if one has the patience to wait awhile.

WHAT WAS THE LAST DREAM-COME-TRUE IN YOUR OWN LIFE?

Susan, your dresser is gorgeous. I have one just like it but wider, with a mirror, and was just telling Jess that I kind of wanted to switch out the gold handles. I think you've taught me that it is a classic piece all on its own and does not need to be refinished. The legs on your dresser are so charming. I think this was meant just for you, Susan. :)

love, ~Sheri
