Birthday Cake Fantasy

Creativity reigns in some families.

One of my nieces makes and decorates the most fabulous cakes.

At a recent birthday bash for Lauren, a little five-year-old, the cake my niece, Amy, made was a show stopper.

It was a model of "Candyland."

She searched several stores for a large variety of the right kinds of candies needed and then went to town creating the colorful masterpiece.

In addition to the candy-covered walkways, there were little gingerbread people as well as chocolate kiss-topped towers!

All eyes opened wide when the cake was carried in and placed on the table.

The pint-sized balloons attached to the cake were real!

Wow, wow, wowsers.  It was really one of the most unique, fabulous cakes I've ever seen in my life.

The little birthday girl, as well as all kid and adult guests present, couldn't have been more pleased.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED YOUR HAND AT CAKE DECORATING?

Oh my that is one of the coolest cakes i have ever seen - I knew right away it was Candyland and I bet she thought it up all by herself - your family is like that. Awesome!

How cute! I only decorated a cake once and it was a space ship. It came out great!

I've never ever decorated a birthday cake even close to that. I think Amy takes right after her Mother who always made unique birthday cakes too. My goodness that cake sure must have been eaten pretty quickly by all the kids at that party. Candyland is always a favorite of little kids to play too. Great job Amy.

what a clever design patterning the cake after candyland. it was beautiful. the most original cake design i ever came up with was an airplane years ago.
