Signs of Summer's End

(Moose on the property of the Four Chimneys Inn in Bennington, Vermont.)

It has been a really great summer.

There were lots of excursions; a ukulele concert; view of Shrek, the Musical and the immensely talented musician, Hershey Felder, impersonating George Gershwin;  a lovely boat ride along a river; lunches out, a stay at a gorgeous New England Inn in Vermont; and on and on.

The other morning, when I jumped out of bed, the air coming through the open window in the bedroom was very chilly------that, my  peeps, was the very first sign that summer was winding down.

Then, coming out of aqua aerobics class one recent night, the bright, end-of-day sunshine was long gone.

Outside the door it was already dark---sign number 2 that it was already almost autumn.

Each day will bring new signs of the season's changes.  Pretty soon, wearing white pants will be out-of-sync.

Schools are starting and the countryside vistas are changing.

Also, soon, bears will be hibernating, ice cream stands will close, and fall, in all its splendor, will be here.

Ahhhhhhh,  each moment is to be treasured.

To say goodbye to summer is sure to be bittersweet.

WHAT WAS THE BEST PART OF YOUR SUMMER?
