One of the best projects done for grandchildren has been growing baby tomatoes.
Each year new tomato plants show up on the back porch of our house.
When the grands arrive for a visit, they are shown the small shoots of greenery that will eventually sprout tomatoes
Each visit becomes exciting. The grands want to see the progress of the tomatoes.
Right now, some sprouts are still growing and being carefully watered by little hands.
One plant has green tomatoes, smaller than golf-ball size, that the grands are yearning to pick.
They are gently prodded to let the green globes get red. Then they can pick and eat them!
The avocado pit one grand planted last year is growing taller and taller.
"Gotta" love some parts of summer and occasional visits from some special guests.
