Birthday on a Budget

Don't you just  love birthday parties?

It's so delightful to celebrate life's special moments and birthdays are definitely among them.

Kids really get into celebrating their big day. Oh, how I remember planning childhood birthday bashes down to the tiniest detail.

Thankfully, my Mummy went along with me and tried to carry-out most of my wishes. Poor dear. I must have driven her crazy.

One time I wanted to serve all my friends banana splits and Mummy went out, and on her meager budget, bought glass banana split dishes!  

Today, almost an entire lifetime later, I still remember that loving detail.

 Anyway, there's birthday bash for a six-year-old coming up.  

Being on a tight budget, I pondered what to get. The struggle was the same as always-----practical versus fun. Why not combine them both?

First of all, I got some Superman pjs. Cool, cool, cool. 

Then, for pure fun, I made a great big, and I mean big, chocolate chip cookie!  

 Wrapped it in plastic wrap and put it in a big white paper plate.  Perfect fit!

 

Last but not least, I'll stop and get a certificate for a McDonald's happy meal. 

The little guy should be pretty happy with that gift combination, don't you think?
