Mexican border towns are often filled with great arts and crafts.
Some items are made rather cheaply, just for tourists, of course, but visitors can also pick up very nice quality articles as well.
When we lived in Arizona, one of my favorite trips was to Nogales, a town right over the border of Mexico.
Once, I found a small but brightly colored tin box.
I lifted the cover and inside, sandwiched between thin pieces of paper, were cut out tin figures.
When I took them all out and set them up, it was an incredible manger scene!
Naturally, when we moved cross country back to the east, I carefully packed the little tin box and its contents.
It has been unpacked every Christmas since.
This year, the tin manger is in one of the bottom shelves in a small china hutch that also houses "crystal angels" and the Holy Family.
