Found! A Tea Cup Treasure for Tea Cup Tuesday

Today I am so happy to be joining, once again, Martha and Terri's Tea Cup Tuesday party!  Click Martha's button in the sidebar for a peek at more wonderful tea cups!

Many thanks to Martha and Terri, the sweet sponsors of Tea Cup Tuesday.  Terri's address is http://artfulaffirmations.blogspot..com/.

Okay, so here's the story of today's tea cup:
Saturday's skies shot down sunshine and warm breezes, perfect conditions for yard sale "schlepping."

These days, I'm very discerning when it comes to purchasing anything.  Looking for one sale, however, took us through a heavily wooded neighborhood, dotted with take-your-breath-away mansions.  Finally, we found it. The house stood at the top of a very steep hill. Once I drove up it, I wondered how we'd ever get back down. My heart was beating like a hundred wild drums.

Most of the merchandise was neatly displayed inside a large, modern garage. Many of the items were drop dead gorgeous with price tags to match.

Then I saw it--- a pale blue/grayish and flower sprinkled tea cup and saucer. No doubt it had been around awhile.  The only markings read "Made in Japan."  I loved the shape of the handle and luminescent interior, which also came with more flowers along the rim.

The price on the bottom read $22.00.  Then I saw a little nick on the rim of the cup which I pointed out to the sweet and personable owner.  She agreed the price had been set before the cup became chipped and offered it to me for $8.00.

"I'll take it for $5.00," I said,  in a barely audible voice.

"Okay, sure," she said, and then she wrapped my new purchase in newspapers.

So there you have it---the story of my new tea cup acquisition.  Isn't it pretty?

Oh, wow, Susan... this is really beautiful! I love your small voice that bravely offered a price and am thrilled it was accepted. I am usually shy about that too but all they can say is no. You did good :)

How I wish yard and garage sales were a common thing around here. They are not, and so I think I'm mising on great treasures. Your cup is beautiful! I should check Tea Cup Tuesdays though, as I have inherited some pretty amazing sets from my grandma, who got them from my uncle, who used to bring her plates and sets from the countries he used to be a diplomat at back in the day.
Thanks for sharing your valuable and beautiful finding!
have a lovely day.
