And The Two Shall Be As One...Post for Sunday, November 7, 2010

My son's wedding last weekend to his forever love happened to be like something out of a dream.

It was a sunny afternoon in the southwest. Since October is a great month to be in that part of the country, the temperatures turned out to be perfect----not too hot and not too cold.

The bridal couple opted to have the ceremony outside, overlooking a sweeping view of a desert covered with strangely picturesque saguaro cacti.  For as far as one could see, the cactus-studded land stretched and finally met the horizon.

White chairs lined part of the yard and guests sat down, talking among themselves about the incredible vistas.

When the bride came down a walkway accompanied by her father, she looked like a princess. Tall, slender, and wearing a stylish, sparkling dress with a long train and veil, her face literally glowed with happiness.

Every single imaginable detail of the wedding had been tended to by the happy couple. Stylish white feather "bouquets" served as centerpieces on some tables. White roses with smaller version feathers decorated the rest.

The white wedding cake, with  white frosting roses, looked elegant as did the twinkling candles on each table.

A magnificent sunset  provided a spectacular backdrop to the wedding reception.  Both inside and out, one could view the glorious shades of pink, gold, and lavender as the sun dropped behind the mountains. Then twinkling white lights flicked on, illuminating railings and walkways against the dark desert night.

Guests from all over the United States and one who traveled from another country; delicious food and drinks;  adorable slide shows of both bride and groom as children as well as one depicting their courtship; and story telling followed by dancing were all part of the wedding planned entirely by the bridal couple.

My son is now a married man and our family has a new "daughter."  Guests who attended the wedding came away with the sweetest possible memories of a very special couple and of an enchanting night under the stars in the southwestern sky.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WEDDINGS?

Dearest Readers:

At the request of the wedding couple, who prefer to remain very private, I am unable to use their photos on my blog.

I hope you understand their request, even though I would loved for you to see the gorgeous gown and happy faces.

Welcome to Burlap Luxe as a new Follower! Come by often!

Hope you all have a great Sunday. Warmly, Susan

Bummer.
The first thing I was gonna ask for was more pictures!
Next time, don't ask permission first, LOL!
What do I love about weddings?
The cake and the dancing.
In that order!
I hope you got both.
Did you, Susan?
So glad you are home and had fun and gained a daughter!
Did you cry?
I would have! Buckets!!
Much love,
~me
P.S. When I write my eBay posts, I am thinking of you! Really.

Susan, love the cake! My DD is getting married in May and she is debating the tall vases with feathers or branches and crystals.
