Brass Items Add Beauty to Decor

Brass, to me, is elegant, regal, and classy.

It's definitely not as popular these days as sheak black and all things modern but I don't care. That's why there is a brass gooseneck faucet in the kitchen,  brass faucets in all our sinks in the bathrooms, and a shiny brass handle on the front door.

So many of the brass items in our house were found in thrift shops. For instance, the basket shown above now sits on a table in our front hallway and is the container for keys.  It's so convenient to deposit them there. It was purchased for a couple of dollars.

An assortment of brass candlesticks, such as shown here, has also found its way to our home, via estate and yard sales.

I'm joining Linda at A La Carte today for Junkin Friday as well as Cindy from My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

NOW TELL THE TRUTH, DO YOU LIKE THINGS MADE OUT OF BRASS?

Hope you check out Linda's blog, A La Carte. It's a real  fun blog. Visit her at http://ljm-alacarte.blogspot.com/.

Your little basket is great! I use to love brass, now not so much. I think it will come around for me again as so much does! Thanks for joining Junkin Finds Friday!

Love your pretty brass, Susan! I actually do adore brass, I'm just kinda in a silver, platinum phase. I'm actually thinking of mixing it with some touches of brass here and there. Love it with a bit of tarnish.

Cheers!

I was just talking to my good friend about brass! Most of the items in my dining room are brass, i.e. electric wall sconces, candle sticks, hardware on my dining room pieces, buffet lamps - it's beautiful and I know it was out of "fashion" for a while, however I've recently read that it's making a comeback! Your items are beautiful! And your table looks so pretty! Have a great weekend!

Oh, yes! I have several brass candlesticks ....also a few pieces of heavy brass pieces--a couple of rabbits, a swan and a set or two of brass bookends.

Your brass "basket" is really attractive, Susan. Thanks for reminding me about yet another collection of mine hidden behind closed doors!

I like brass, just not cleaning it. The candlesticks sure are pretty. Most of the brass I have run across in our local thrift stores is beyond cleaning, but some of the really utilitarian pieces can be spray painted with colors like oil rub bronze and wahlah! New again!~Ames

Love the colors of your dishes and table cloth!! I really don't have much of an opinion about brass....it's just kind of "ok". Of course, if I rec'd some as a gift, I certainly wouldn't turn it down! :)
