Find Time To Do Something You Love

(Doll house in need of renovation and lighting installation.)

Time has a way of slipping through our fingertips like fine grains of sand at the beach.

It seems the older one gets, the faster time flies by. When it's morning, and time to make my bed,  on go all the decorative pillows  just like  in the decorating magazines. Next thing I know, it's time to take them off  to get ready for sleep. Where did  the day go? How could it be dark already when the sun just came up?

During this new year, I'm going to do the daily necessary chores and obligations but also am going to "make time" to spend a little bit of each day or evening doing something I love. For example, I want to work on my doll house hobby a little more.  Notice the use of the words "make time" because if I don't make a conscious effort to do that, there won't be any time left over in the day for "fun" things.

Numerous boxes are stored in the attic, filled with miniature paraphernalia and all kinds of furniture and accessories for  dollhouses. Everything is an unholy mess, however, and has been stored for several years, since a cross-country move. Previous full time employment and just life, in general, prevented me from opening those boxes and organizing their contents.

In addition to my regular doll house,  (shown to the right) there are two more doll houses, picked up for free, waiting to be remodeled and have lighting installed.
So, concentrating on my doll house hobby, even if it's in tiny segments of time, is something I want to see happen this year.

It's important to make use of, rather than waste, time.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO JUST FOR FUN THIS YEAR?

  1. I love your doll house!!! What a nice idea, taking time for yourself! I'm going to be working on the 1st floor of my home and finish up all the details that need to be taking care of!

  3. Hi Susan! I am with you on this one. I've decided that I must do something creative each and every day and not let time get away from me. A bit of cleaning is also in order each day, aside from the normal daily household chores, in order to keep up so that I will have that extra time. having these 2 weeks off for Christmas has been wonderful. But tomorrow it is back to school and then the real test of time begins. Enjoy your hobby and share your results with us. :) Blessings, Tammy

  10. Hi Susan! Your doll house is so charming. I once built a doll house 13 years ago. It was a very large victorian one. I gave it to my Mom and she used to decorate it per season. I can't wait to see yours all dolled up.

  12. I can't wait to see the finished products! Do you use kits for lighting??? We've not lit any of ours - seems too daunting somehow...

I have made a pact with myself to play the piano a little bit each day. So far, so good :)
