Crazy for Dolls

Today, Writing Straight from the Heart is joining Diann at The Thrifty Groove for the sixth, Thrifty Things Friday.

We are also joining Cindy's Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home.

Check out both of these great blogs to see other entries! You'll love looking at all the terrific blogs and you'll find more ideas than all the spring flowers in your yard!

One part of childhood that is still with me today is my love for dolls.

Almost nothing can make my heart beat as quickly as seeing a beautiful doll in attractive finery.

A friend of mine from high school days has snagged some drop dead gorgeous dolls at yard sales and thrift shops. The prices she paid are as low a $1 per doll and probably no higher than $5.

Her daughter called me yesterday and said she had to move again so was dropping something by my house that she didn't want to pack.  Imagine my shock when she deposited three fabulous dolls, all dressed in Victorian outfits.

Here are some close ups of all three beauties:

Please hang in there while I show more photos, whittled down to those shown in this post.  Whenever my digital camera is in hand and in close proximity to  knockout dolls, it's almost impossible to stop snapping photos. But I did my best to eliminate quite a few and save the best for you!

This is the largest doll to arrive. Her dress cascades in layers of  pink and brown and she has a pink and dark brown feathered hat. Her curls fall down in luscious ringlets to past her shoulders.  Look at her sweet little pearly necklace.

Personally, I think she's a heart-stopper. Can you tell she's my fave?

Then there's this green-eyed vixen with a rather serious look on her face. Her stunning outfit is covered in lace and pink satin bows. Her hat? Well, it's a flouncy one, held to her head with a stick pin. Isn't she the pizazz?

This third doll wears a greenish and gold dress and seems to be the redhead of the bunch.

OF THE THREE DOLLS SHOWN, WHICH DO YOU LIKE THE BEST, IF ANY?

What a nice friend! And she never pays over $5. I love the one in the middle - that has all the curls - she is gorgeous. Just beautiful.
I'm glad she did that!
