Simple Pleasure: Listening to the Birds Singing in the Morning

Joining Dayle's Simple Pleasures from A Collection of This and That.

This week's simple pleasure is listening to the sounds of birds singing in the morning.

Now that spring has finally arrived, I like to go out the front door, early in the morning, and walk down the brick steps to retrieve the morning newspaper.

It's so pleasant to hear the birds chirping away in the nearby trees. I want to yell out, "The birds are back! The birds are back!" but , if I did that, the neighbors might think I was a little nutty in the head.

However, after the long, hard, icy cold winter, it's refreshing to be able to walk out of the house without a coat and listen to those sweet bird songs.

I close my eyes and imagine a bird convention up in the nearby trees. "How sweet the sound" of their singing!

DO YOU LISTEN TO THE BIRDS SINGING WHERE YOU LIVE?

I do like listening to the birds... one of my favorite sounds is the melancholy coo of the mourning doves.

I listen to the birds too - and they wake up early.

I hate to admit this - but this morning I took a nap - when I woke up and listened - and this is the truth - it sounded like they were saying - "What'll you have, What'll you have."

Which is you know anything about Atlanta and the Varsity Restaurant is what the say when you come in and stand in line - "What'll you have, What'll you have."

Maybe I was hungry!

I have morning doves where I live and enjoy their singing. What I do not like are crows...they really bother me. I'm up at six every morning and I hear the birds and again in the evening..have them all year round in So.Cal.

I love the birds. We sit on our deck or screened porch and really enjoy the birds singing.

Oh yes, I love listening to the birds sing! And coo! There's a pair of mourning doves that are nesting in a tree outside my window. I love how they "talk" back and forth. Isn't it wonderful that spring is finally here? Or nearly so?

We have a robin nesting outside our door, lots of cardinals and Mocking Birds, one that is almost hand fed by hubby. I love birdsong.

Yes, I do! As long as the neighbor's dogs aren't barking. :) Our property is bordered on both sides with white pines and we have a lot of birds. It's very nice!

Happy Mother's Day weekend, Susan!
Blessings,
Karen

I just finished writing a blog entry for tomorrow about favorite sounds and bird singing made it to the list! Indeed, listen to birds sing is a pleasure; a free gift from nature! There is this one bird that only shows up during the warm months here in Guatemala that I have come to call "summer bird", as I haven't been able to identify it. I love its singing! and I also enjoy listening to birds sing right after a rain shower; it's magical! Because of where Guatemala is located in the planet, and our seasons, we are fortunate enough to listen to birds sing all year long! Aren't we lucky?! :o)
have a lovely day!

If you yelled "the birds are back" they would all call off the convention and hit the skyway! HA! :) I do love quiet mornings, when everyone is still sleeping, balcony door open, bright sun, blue skies, and the birds all happily flitting about singing their happy song. Definitly a pleasant way to start the day. Hope you are having a good one. Best wishes, Tammy

I love the sound of birds singing. I believe their songs are gifts from God's hand.

My nieghbor has a bird feeder that attracts all sorts of birds and, of all things, ducks who eat the scattered birdseed on the ground. They land on my roof and call to each other...funny, but it's also very early!

Count me in, I love birdsong too. Our blackbirds sing a lovely song, only problem is it's very repetitive, they don't have a lot of variation but lovely all the same though.

This is one of my favorite favorite things. I want to write it down every week on my "gratitude list" but I always feel redundant so I just close my eyes and enjoy.
