I love airports.
They buzz with activity and life.
People are going places or coming back. Some are on happy missions, others are facing heartbreak.
Whenever I see family members or lovers hug and cry, I cry with them. It doesn't matter if they are strangers, since we are all part of the same human family. Plus, admittedly, I'm a marshmallow heart.
Some airports are so huge they are scary. I cannot help but fear getting lost and missing a plane. Smaller, more quaint airports are more to my liking.
Shown in this post is the Albany (New York) International Airport. It's just the right size for me.
Escalators get you where you are going but my heart still skips a few beats when I have to get on one, especially when the sides are see-through. I grip the handrails with a vengeance.
See what a "scaredy" cat I am?

Travelling internationally, I prefer bigger airports because we always need something to do during the waits. Shopping or finding a nice restaurant to sit in for a while is always a good thing to pass the time. I never take the escalators -- always the stairs. Not because I'm scared, just because I prefer to use my legs to get around. I think it's funny to see people just get on and stand there, waiting to get to the top or bottom. If there's no stairs, I still walk the escalator. :) Happy 1st day of August to you! Tammy
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan. You and I are so much alike! Pre-terrorists days, we used to just hang out at the airpot to "people watch"! AND, there was a small parking lot near the airport, where cars would park for people to just watch the jets come in and take off. I LOVED that! As an adult, I would still always be in awe and squeal! ....now, I'm not fond of any "heights"...and especially anything see-through! Those all glass elevators.....my stomach flips! Favorite airport...can't choose just one! Sorry!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm old-fashioned when it comes to "art". I thought that pile of white stuff, was just a pile of junk, waiting to be carted away! :o
ReplyDeleteSorry!
I like smaller airports rather than huge ones. I'm always a nervous wreck until I get to my "gate" safely when in foreign airports. My favorite is John Wayne.
ReplyDeleteI think I like all airports. They mean excitement and travel to me. I always feel so "international" and I love to people watch. My fav is right here in Missoula and like Diane above, I love John Wayne airport. Kit
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with all the airports I guess. They all are a pain to me but I do like 'getting where I'm going'!!
ReplyDeleteI used to love airports - but have to be honest - they are pretty stressful places these days.
ReplyDeleteSo I'll take the airport in Paris!
