Have you ever been invited to a Christmas Cookie Exchange?
It's an event where all guests bring several dozen of cookies. They are all placed on a table.
Then, after snacks and chatting, everyone grabs a tray or container, and circles the table, taking one of each different cookie.
Around and around you go, until all the cookies are gone.
No need to bake 8 million cookies for the holidays! You come home with a nice variety of every kind of cookie under the sun, moon, and stars.
Recently, I was invited to my very first Christmas Cookie Exchange. It was terrific! I loved it and kept thinking what a great idea it was.
Our hostess was truly a hostess with the "mostess." She had the house decorated to the hilt, everything sparkled, there was a wonderful lunch, and the cookie exchange was, well, quite amazing.
Santa would be sure to say,
"Happy Early Cookie, I mean, Christmas, everyone!"

Despite being full of holiday foods already, these cookies look delicious.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas with lots of cookies on your plate!
Oh Susan I went to one a couple weeks ago and it was awesome, but I have to say this one had a lot more cookies. Beautiful! sandie
Hi Susan,
What a great idea.
No, I have not been to one.
Your pictures are delightful as are each and every one of those homemade cookies.

What a fun post, Susan. I love cookie exchanges. Haven't been to one in a few years.
My girlfriend, Melissa, has hosted one the past couple of years but she calls it a Cookie Festival because she actually does all the baking. We just have to show up for brunch and then fill our containers up with cookies when we go home. She really putdid herself last year with at least 15 different types of cookies. Yum! Yours looks and sounds equally fantabulous! Happy Hump Day! Tammy
Oh how fun! I hosted one a couple of years ago and we had so much fun! I asked my guests to wear their favorite Christmas outfit either from Christmas past or present. We had a blast.
Hugs,
Mary
what fun! Oh the calories. I am baking tomorrow.
I'm an apple pie lover myself...these cookies must have been fun to exchange. I've been to cookie party exchanges many years ago when the children were little...they are fun!
We had a cookie exchange at church during the Sunday school hour last week. They ARE fun - and I like the idea of baking one kind and going home with such a wide and beautiful variety of cookies to serve/enjoy!
I have enjoyed reading your articles. It is well written. It looks like you spend a large amount of time and effort in writing the blog. I am appreciating your effort.
