Today we are joining Kathy at A Delightsome Life. Go visit there and get ready to read about some yummified dishes to try!
The phone rang and it was the happiest news ever!
My brother-in-law, who makes fabulous Lebanese dishes, called to invite us to dinner. He had cooked an abundance of Lebanese food so he had extra. Would we like to come?
"Would we? Are you kidding?," I thought. Woo hoo. That was the best news I had all day. Not only would I be spared from cooking dinner, going to my bro-in-law's house meant eating delicious Lebanese food. Mmm mmm mm
"Sure," I said. "You want us to come over NOW?"
"In an hour," came the reply. Already I was looking for my shoes to run out of the house!
Everything, and I mean every single thing on the menu, was top notch. That guy could be a Lebanese chef and make a million.
The tabouleh (pronounced tah-boo-lay) salad made the taste buds dance. It consists of fresh parsley finely chopped, mint, scallions, tomatoes, bulgar, olive oil, lemon juice, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. The combination of flavors is divine.
Then came "sfeeha." Now this was my first time trying this delicious dish. There was ground meat, (either beef or lamb can be used), onions, pine nuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Everything is sauteed and then stuffed into pita bread. I tell you, I wanted to stuff ME with "sfeeha."
The "m'zshruddra, " a mixture of lentils, rice, and onions, also with spices added, was "mwah!"
Now, if only that phone would ring again....

Hi Susan,
What a delicious looking meal! I love those unexpected dinner invitations; they're always a real treat. Everything looks and sounds yummy, but I think the tabouleh might be my favorite.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments. Hope you have a great week!

Oh, gosh, I'm hungry now. I could just taste the salad. Mmmm.
I'd be lovin' me some Kraft Mac and Cheese and Oscar Mayer hotdogs!
Too bad I'm so far away. I'd have loved to have had that tabouleh. Lucky YOU. Right now all I want is sleep..ha ha.

Very different food to me...would love to have a taste test on the salad!
Yum! That looks delicious. I love middle eastern food.
That salad sounds very interesting. Right now I am craving pizza, but anything will do as it is lunch time.
I LOVE LABANESE FOOD - you are a lucky ducky girl. sandie

I do love a good taboulleh. There was a Lebanese lady who used to live in the building we were in when I first came to Kuwait and she would make the lentil dish you mentioned here. Boy was it good, eaten with heated pita bread. I make rice and lentils (mujadrah) a lot, served with fatoush and plain yogurt. Yum! Have a great rest of the day. Tammy
Sounds wonderful - I've never had Lebanese. I'd like to try it someday!
Have a great weekend!
