Cinco de Mayo is primarily a Mexican holiday.
However, even though we are not Mexican, my daughter asked me to prepare a breakfast for her, her husband, and my own forever love.
Of course, I did!
There were friend plantains (a kind of a banana), served with sugar and sour cream; rice and beans with onions and melted cheddar cheese (of course), huevos rancheros ( scrambled eggs in tomato and onion sauce); tortillas; and orange slices with cinnamon sugar as well as blackberries and strawberry halves.
I also served a special white Mexican cheese with honey.
The table was set with the most colorful cloth and accessories I could find, including a Mexican gourd and a glass dish of brightly painted eggs, a red runner, and multi-colored striped tablecloth.
Or course there was coffee (with half and half because it makes the coffee taste fabulous), orange juice, and ice water.
Yum yum yum to all.
Gorgeous cranberry martini glasses held orange juice.
The table was set with a brightly colored striped tablecloth and sizzling pink Gerber daisies and purple flowers.
Wow! It was a great celebration for a Saturday morning in May!
