Tickled "Pink" with Gift from a Friend

As collectors everywhere always know, there is almost never an end to a collection.

Just when you swear off buying even one additional cookbook, or doll, or piece of cranberry glass, someone comes along and gives you one as a gift.

So then it's an okay thing to add to a collection. There's no guilt involved.

A dear high school friend who I've blogged about many times before gives me all kinds of things I love.

At Easter, for example, she gifted me with those beautiful Ukrainian eggs. You can read about them here if you missed the original post.

Wouldn't you know it that she left a Mother's Day gift in a bag, hanging from my mailbox?

Guess what it was?  Yep, a piece of cranberry glass. Luckily, it's a vase that I don't have in my collection.

It's a really gorgeous vase about six inches tall, and I put it on top of the television with the fairly recently acquired pink glass swan.  You can read about that acquisition here.

My dear friend actually bought the cranberry glass vase at a yard sale and got it for a fabulous price.  That's thrifty shopping and we all love that, right?

Now cranberry glass is usually e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e, not only because it's a highly collectible item but, also, because it contains molten gold.

So the fact the person selling my gifted vase put a low price tag on it made it an extra special item and a perfect present.

Would I ever say "No more cranberry glass" to anyone who wants to buy it for me as a gift?  Uh uh. Never.

It's beautiful. I didn't know that cranberry glass contains molten gold. My favourite colour of decorative glass is cobalt blue. Have a wonderful weekend.

Actually, I like clear crystal. But for glass? Cobalt blue. No question.

No, we never say no to a beautiful gift from a friend do we? And that was pretty. I didn't know it had some gold in it either.

Let's see I love the cranberry and the cobalt blue.

Happy weekend, Susan! What a gorgeous piece! I looked at your swan too and I love it! You have a delightful collection.
I have a little collection of cranberry glass too most of which came from my hubby. It started off with a wedding gift from my aunt and uncle and I've added to it over the years.
Cranberry glass and pink depression glass have always been my favouite glass to collect. Thanks for sharing and for your visit. Hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

It's beautiful and such a sweet size! (I'm educated by this post - to know it contains gold!) I like YOUR color but have more turquoise myself - which I also like...
