One of my beloved nieces, Amy, serves a French toast dish that is so delicious, guests ask for the recipe all the time.
She graciously shared the recipe with me so here it is. Get ready to wow guests.
Here's a warning, though. If you choose to take a piece yourself, it could be dangerous.
This stuff is scrumptuous. Decadent beyond belief.
If I have a small piece, it's imperative to send any crumb of leftovers home with guests.
It would be "lethal" to have it hanging around.
Creme Brulee French Toast
A loaf of challah bread (this can be found in most big supermarkets in the freshly made bakery section)
One stick of butter
1 cup of brown sugar
2 Tablespoons of Karo syrup
5 eggs
1 and 1/2 cups of half and half
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Okay. Melt the butter in a pan. Add the brown sugar and Karo syrup. Mix all together until well blended and bubbly. Remove from heat. Pour into a 13X9 inch pan.
Slice challah bread and remove crusts. Arrange pieces of bread on top of the brown sugar mixture.
Next, place eggs, half and half, vanilla and salt in a bowl. Blend with an electric mixer. Pour over the bread in the pan.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least a few hours).
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 35 or 40 minutes.
This makes really fabulous French toast!
DO YOU LIKE FRENCH TOAST?
I used to make a recipe like this years and years ago. French toast is usually a staple for breakfast around here during the school year because it is quick and easy to whip up for hungry kids. :) Have a great day. Tammy
