Amber Glass Reminiscent of Autumn in the Kitchen
Fall, that most glorious of seasons, uplifts our spirits.
Bright sunshine-splashed days, skies so blue they make us squint and gorgeous flowers nodding in the cool breeze are all part of it.
As soon as fall tiptoes into view, it propels me to traipse up two flights of stairs to the large attic to retrieve a box of amber glass.
It's such a pretty color.
I have a rag tag yard sale collection that lines the kitchen windowsills in the fall.
Amber jewelry is beautiful, too, and comes from two countries where my grandparents were born, Lithuania and Poland.
But oh boy oh boy , the prices? Out of sight and out of my budget.
So I'll just enjoy my rag tag collection of amber glass now lining the kitchen windowsills.
Today we are joining a new party, "Home," on Sandi's blog, Rose Chinz Cottage.
Please stop by her blog and see all the cool entries!
Thanks for hosting, Sandi!
DO YOU LIKE THE COLOR OF AMBER GLASS?
The first photo - love how you caught the ripples. I love glass - I think I like the blue and cranberry a bit better - what is your favorite?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...and amber is like autumn...amber and orange!
ReplyDeleteLove the amber glass. I have four bags of it sitting in my car right now. I don't need my husband to see it all just yet :) I found a set of glasses at Goodwill. Tall wine glass, 16 of them and small liquor type glasses that match about 10 of those. I was happy. No where to put them. Should sell them....don't want to. I love how you have all of yours displayed. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI do love amber glass and am lucky to have a couple of pieces passed down from my grandmother. Being a Scorpio, I'm kinda drawn to the color! Wish we had some sunshine here so I could see it glowing like yours--so heartwarming, XOXO
ReplyDeleteI have an amber cross necklace that I purchased when I went to Poland. I wish I could have gotten more but I was on a budget too!
ReplyDeleteI love the Amber this time of year! I change my out for the seasons like you do. I just wish I had some cranberry glass....your collection is amazing. Happy Fall!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
It looks lovely and is perfect for the season. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteGood morning Susan,
ReplyDeleteYour collection of amber glass is beautiful and it looks fabulous in the window! Thank goodness for thrift stores and garage sales, eh? I have four red-rimmed King's Crown plates like your amber one. Thank you so much for your visits to my Christmas blog and linking up to my HOME party. It is always a pleasure to have you visit. Enjoy your weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
You have a great collection, Susan!
ReplyDeleteThese pieces are lovely, and I'm sure you've had lots of fun visiting yard sales and flea markets looking for them! Hopefully, you'll be able to add to your collection from time to time, but I sure would not want to be the one carrying them down those stairs from the attic! :-)
ReplyDeleteAmber glass really is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLight shining into amber glass is always pretty.
ReplyDeleteMerle.....
Amber glass is pretty & gives a cozy warm feeling to our homes. I purchase some amber glass plates & bowls to join my yellow dishes from a flea market type shop. Wanted to add more pieces but seems amber glass is rare in my area. You have a nice collection. Blessings!

I love your amber glass, Susan. It displays so beautifully in the kitchen window.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely Susan. I love your amber glass! I wouldn't call it a rag tag collection at all! You have such beautiful things. I love your blog.
