October's galloping to its end.
Throughout the month, it's been fun changing kitchen tablecloths.
There are so many with fall themes, picked up for pennies at yard sales.
A favorite is this brightly colored one featuring leaves, acorns and other fall signs, in alternating colors of the season.
Then there's this pumpkin-covered cloth, too.
It would be almost impossible to count the pumpkins on this one!
Walnuts are a good choice of nut to use.
If you make several of these, you can wrap them up and stash them away in the freezer for drop-in guests or to give away.
They freeze well and make the house smell divine while baking!
By the way, pumpkin bread is best served with cream cheese.
Stir in a couple tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice to really up the pumpkin flavor!
Chilly fall days are also nice for cookie baking.One must exercise self-discipline with these, however. The best thing to do is give them away!
Ahhhhh, yes, October's end is coming.
But until it does, let's savor every sweet second!

ReplyDeleteThis October was very hot here where I live. This weekend it will be close to 90 degrees again...can't believe it is October...I hope November brings us a little FALL weather.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post --- I love the colors. October for me has meant many birthdays! It's been busy! I've enjoyed the slow change of seasons this year, and the fact that daylight savings time doesn't start until November!

ReplyDeleteThe best part of THIS October for me was my 50th college class reunion! In fact, returning for Homecoming there every year always makes October special.

ReplyDeleteThose are certainly some delicious treats to warm up an October day! My favorite thing about this particular October is that our temperatures have been cooler than normal, and we've enjoyed having the doors open instead of using the a/c. Nothing like fresh air any time of the year! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm coming over for tea and treats!! Your table linen is perfect for the season and sadly, October seems to be flying by. I spent yesterday raking the millions (well, it seemed like that many) of leaves in my yard. Our grass stays green, all year, and we even mow every couple of weeks during winter, so keeping the leaves up is a must.

ReplyDeleteLovely tablecloths. I haven't brought out any of my Halloween or Fall decorations yet. Will definitely be making some pumpkin bread very soon. I like to eat it with whipped cream, but your cream cheese version sounds yummy, too. I've been eating the chocolate cake I made for Zack's birthday. The Mexican Wedding cookies are a favorite around here, but they will be going to friends we are visiting this evening. Have a great day. Tammy

ReplyDeleteDo you use your bread maker to do the kneeding only and the rising of bread ?
Then let it rise on counter second time and then oven bake.
I never seen such huge bread.
