Holy Family Art from El Salvador, Central America

There's a little town in the Central American country of El Salvador where artists turn out amazing works of art.

It's called La Palma.

We went there one time, so  long ago.

The ride up to the town covered some very steep terrain with rather petrifying drops but it was worth it.

When I saw the painting-on-wood of the  Holy Family, shown in this post, I loved it.

The figures are actually carved out of the wood.

The colors, once very dazzling, are muted a bit by the passage of time.

It's traveled with us from Central America to several locations in the States, including a dozen or so years in Arizona, and has now come home to New England for good.

Isn't it unique?  I had my hubs put it up in the kitchen this year, under the Coca Cola case knick knack rack.

The three brightly painted wooden letters that spell out "joy,"  on the top of the knick knack rack, were also painted in El Salvador.

DO YOU HAVE CHRISTMAS ART FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES  IN YOUR HOME ?

  1. I like your art from different places and Central America. They are very bright and beautiful and I bet you do have the best memories - they have traveled every where with you.

And yes I have been to Europe twice and I do have items from those countries. I need to blog about that come January.

    Love, sandie

  7. I don't have anything from the rest of the world for christmas, I once had some outside solar lights from New Zealand that we hung up at christmas time but they fell apart a couple of years back, they were 8 round balls that kept changing colour every couple of seconds, they were very dramatic and lasted a lot longer than I expected
