Hibachi Experience



My niece had a birthday recently and we celebrated it in a newly opened restaurant called Koto. We ate in the Hibachi grill section.

 Even though there were 17 of us, we were all able to sit together in a three-sided arrangement.

 Young, experienced (I assume Japanese) chefs manned the two grills facing guests, one on either side, and put on quite a show.


 They chopped, tossed little squares of veggies into guests' mouths and squirted saki ( a Japanese liquor ) in long streams, too. 


 The chefs cooked everything in front of us. 

 How they ever tossed eggs into the air and had them land on the spatulas, rolling them around right before us,  I'll never know but they did it. Fascinating.

 When big towers of fire on the grills lighted up the night , both the kids and the adults in our party did plenty of oooing and ahhing. 

A cool ceiling light changed colors and made me think of middle school dances!  




They even played birthday songs for those celebrating their special days.

It was a great experience and everyone loved it.

 My hubs and I had filet mignon pieces, shrimp, fried rice and veggies.


 Everything tasted great.

 What a fun night!

    What is fun about your HIBACHI GRILL experience was that you had a table of all people you know and love. We have been to these places and the food is always good - but sometimes a bit awkward. Sandie

    Oh, yes, I have enjoyed this experience many times, and I'm always awestruck by the "performance" of the chef!! Sounds like it was a wonderful experience for you all around! :-)

    Aw, what a lovely treat on such occasion! you did the right thing of going out for such delicious dinner!
    oh my, the shrimps look so yumm! i do love Japanese food, tried sushi so far and a soup miso:)
    have more of such lovely moments with family!

    Yes I have, many times and I -love- it!!! So much fun and the food is sooo good! It looks like you all had a blast! :)

    I've been to one of those restaurants and loved the food but it was such a long time ago that it seems like a dream.

    Oh my gosh - that looks SOOOO good! I think back in the 70's I went to a restaurant called (Benihana's?) maybe? They also cooked the food right there and it was amazing!

    BTW, that was my Amanda taking the photo of the cows in the field while I was taking a photo of her taking pictures of the cows! haha

    Stay warm! It's COLD and snowy here! Was it really just 60 degrees 2 days ago???

    We have Beni Hana's (sp??) and when I was with my family at Disneyland, we took Ari and Maddie there and they loved using their chopsticks. Communal dining is the way to enjoy a meal, XOXO

    I enjoy those restaurants! When the kids closed on the house we went to one and it was Tiger's first trip to Hibachi grill and he loved it, especially the fire! Glad you had fun.

    Hello from Spain: Nice pictures. I have not been to hibachi grill because I do not like the food very strong. I prefer a more traditional meal. The important thing is to be reunited with the people you want. Keep in touch

    Yes, I have been to a Hibachi grill and loved every minute of it. The cooks were fun to watch and the food was fresh and delicious. Great photos of your wonderful night out!

    It all looks good and it is nice to enjoy a night out with friends and family. I have never heard of a hibachi restaurant.

    I've been to Benny Hanna's restaurants too and just loved the meal, the fascinating way the chefs are so so fast and always loved everything about it. I love Asian food anyway...shrimp and fillet mignon sounded great! Yummy!
