Grateful for the Love of Family and Friends

This Sunday there is immense gratitude in my heart for being able to entertain.

We don't have fancy cocktail parties or gourmet meals.

Usually, the entertaining involves a simple breakfast or dinner at home with guests.

It makes me happy to set a pretty table and make delicious food for those I love.

Adding a few candles, pretty Bavarian china with pink roses, and soft pink dinner napkins contribute to a special table setting.

Whenever the entertaining is at dinner time, there is salad because I absolutely love it.

I have a lot of old but still pretty tablecloths that are alternated.

The one shown in this post came from Poland!

My sister brought it back for me when she traveled there.

Poland was my maternal grandparents' native country.

Just being with people I love is what makes entertaining extra special.

We are joining Thankful Sunday on Linda's blog, A La Carte.

Be sure to stop by there tonight, when she posts, to see all the things people are thankful for.

DO YOU ENJOY ENTERTAINING?

I do love to entertain and don't do it nearly often enough. Due to my small space I too often have my living area over run with projects I am trying to work on, and my antique chairs won't hold anyone anymore. I need to replace them so I can have some proper get togethers. But when? No one here seems to want antiques these days. I do love that you have a great spirit of hospitality. It is great no matter the occasion and a nice meal served with love is much better than a fancy one served with none.

I like having people over for dinner but I'm not into parties or big amounts of people coming at once now, I get in a bit panic if there are a lot of people around.
That red tablecloth is very pretty.

I agree! Your table setting is sweet. The tablecloth is SO pretty... (Not intimidating for this low-key hostess.) People ARE the reason we open our lives and homes. Not to impress but to de-stress is my goal in hospitality. :)

I wish my family lived closer; I loved going to my mom's every Sunday for dinner and I miss that. Your table setting is lovely and inviting, just like your blog, dear friend, XOXO

I believe I could say that I enjoy entertaining.:-) That is one way to be sure to use these "trimmings" I love to collect.:-)

You have lovely settings on your table. My father was Polish so I tend to want to see Polish items but they are not available in our part of the country.

I hardly ever entertain but when I do I enjoy cooking and having friends over..it's only a couple times a year though. If I lived closer I'd come to your "breakfasts" that is for sure. Glad you are enjoying the tablecloth from Poland.

Pretty tablecloth. I love linens from Poland. I was in Poland in 1986 and I wish I had brought some linens back with me because they were exquisite!

I am sure your guests love to receive an invitation from you. Looks like you put such love into your entertaining.

Wish I were close enough to come to your house! I like gathering around a table...have not done if for a long time...been taking it easy around here on big meals and guests...more snow coming they say. Have a good week, Susan!

I do enjoy entertaining, but our small apartment does not lend itself well to such endeavors. I always enjoy taking lots of food to covered-dish dinners at church, so that is my method of entertaining these days! One of my most enjoyable times, when we had a larger living area, was having my parents, my husband's parents, and my sister and her hubby at our house one year for Christmas. That was a LONG time ago, while all the parents were still living and there were no children yet, so it's been at least 41 years, but I still remember the good time we had and the fun I had decorating the table for that event. Ahhhhh....memories! :-)
