Easter Egg Tree

Whenever we have little guests coming,  I try to think of something fun for them to do.

It would be so boring to be little and surrounded by all adults and just listen to them talk.

It really galls me when parents expect little kids to act like adults or statues by sitting and not moving.

Kids are kids. They are not adults and they are not statues. They need things to keep their little hands busy.

This year, little guests at our house had an important task.

They decorated the Easter egg tree!

All the doodad decorations were placed on a paper plate near the bare branches of the tree so small hands could reach right in and select whatever decorations they wanted to use.

You should have seen their eyes get big when told what their "job" was!

They made it look pretty, too.

All he kids seemed to enjoy looking around at all the other Easter decorations.

Even some of the adults had a few chuckles.

HOW DO YOU OCCUPY LITTLE GUESTS AT YOUR HOUSE?

Little guests in our home play with a wooden train and a track...enjoy a stack of kids books...play with remote control helicopters...glide wooden airplanes...and play computer games with the big kids. :D

  9. Everything you post is so cute, Susan! We do not have children visiting us, as our grands are too far away and there are not any other youngsters around our apartment. However, I used to teach very young children in Sunday School, and they always loved a variety of coloring sheets that I would print for them, as well as looking at age-appropriate books and playing with a conglomeration of toys that were in the chest in the classroom. That chest was lots of fun, as it was designed to look like a real pirate's treasure chest! I definitely agree that children need to be respected and given something to keep their little hands out of trouble! :-)

  10. What a fun idea for the small children, Susan. The eggs and the chicks are adorable, and what a nice idea letting the children use their own imagination. I don't have grandchildren yet, so it's been awhile since I had small children in the house. But I still make a basket and fill it with candy for my kids even though they are all grown hehehe. Have a wonderful week.

  16. It's nice of you to think of the children. With 10 grands and one great-grand, there's always plenty to do around here. The grands are grown up now but when they were all little, we had toys and such for them to play with. Then, as they grew older and wanted to help in the kitchen, I gave them jobs like placing canned biscuits on the baking sheet. Then, they thought they had "made" biscuits..hahhaa...lots of fun memories.

  17. You are so cool. Let's see don't have many little ones - but if Will ever comes here - I plan on child proofing the house so he can play without getting hurt and in trouble. Then I am going to bring up a lot of old toys of Andy's up from the basement! sandie

  18. Ohhh Susan!! You're so German!! We lived in Germany in the 80s and this was the first I experienced Easter trees! Many would get forsithia and dangle their little wooden Easter eggs from that or willow branches!! I haven't put ours up since the kids left home!! Love yours!! Looks like some german pieces!! Love your Tree!
