What Does Home Mean to You?

The above thrift store find hangs in our  pantry window.

The late afternoon sun often lights it up.

I love its short, sweet message, "Home, Sweet, Home."

Home is, indeed, the best place to be, don't you think?

Here's what home means to me:

* A place where my hubs is and where
    my kids, their spouses, grandchildren,
    and all friends and family members love
    to visit

*  Book-filled, doll-filled and dollhouse
    and miniatures-filled

* Comfortable

* Cozy

* Delicious, healthy food is served

*  Filled with love

* Pretty rooms in colors and decor I love

*Relaxed atmosphere

* Welcoming

* Where I can be 100 percent myself

* Home is a place I am deeply thankful for, because it's a gift
   from God

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN:   WHAT DOES 'HOME SWEET HOME' MEAN TO YOU?

Home, for me, is that wonderful place where I can just be "ME" without apology or explanation. That might not be in my apartment, but can also be with other people who love and accept me. It's more about the feeling than it is about the location for me. Your home is a lovely and lively place, and I'm sure all who come into it are welcomed and made to feel at home with you! :-)

Home to me is a place I feel safe and comforted,
where I can be totally relaxed away from the outside World.
A place where everyone is welcome,to call, any time and feel at home
A place where I can indulge myself in my hobbies,without feeling guilty
A place I share with the one's dearest to me.
There's no place like home

What a beautiful "find", Susan. I'd echo many of your descriptions of home....

Home IS where one's "heart" is - and more and more this world is NOT my home. Still, I'm SO thankful for a "place" - warm, comfortable, personal & visually pleasing - to rest my weary bones & enjoy the company of family and friends until my Final and Ultimate home.....

My home is my safe place. I can play peek-a-boo with dust bunnies, cuddle with my honey, nibble a chocolate, be myself. I wake every morning with a thank you prayer: for my health, my hubby, my home and family.

Susan,
I love your stained glass sign-what lovely colors and constant inspiration!
Home Sweet Home for us is :

The door is always open and no matter how old our children become it is "their," home even when they have their own.

Total acceptance
Constant love
Appreciation for the person you are
Good Food is always available
Warm beds with fresh sheets
Surprise candy on a dresser
We many not always agree-but when you come home you are always welcome and loved.

I really do love the colors on that lead glass and the saying.

Home is a place where you should feel safe from the whole outside world. You can be yourself. You can breathe!

Hugs, sandie

Hello from Spain, my home is my island, my refuge and my favorite place. My home is my happiness. I associate my house with my husband and my daughters. The home is the fundación of my life. I love my house. IT is a perfect house for me. Keep in touch

Recently I read that family can be friends that you make like relatives. I think the same for home...home isn't always where you live but can be any place where you feel accepted and allowed to be yourself.

What a very special blog post Susan. Lots to think about and really be thankful for! We do take our homes for granted sometimes.
I like everything you listed.
One of the things my husband always told our girls was if you just get home, everything will be OK. We have always wanted our home to be a safe haven. I cherish that.
I'm sure your home is just that too.
Thanks for always providing lovely blog posts with a lot to think about.
Much love,
Linda

Yesterday, after being out in the pouring rain, and being very wet and bedraggled, home was a refuge from all that was going on outside! I hope our home is a place of comfort for all who enter the doors.

My home is my castle, where I can be myself and feel 'safe'...and now after a year living in this apartment it's starting to feel like a home, my home :)

Beautiful stained glass; what a great find. After being away from "home" for 2 weeks, even tho it was in the "sunshine state", being back at home is fantastic. A trip is great but there is no place like home. Missed seeing your blog. Back on track now.

Your home must be lovely with colorful prisms all about...Home for me is where My God is and My husband and family. It may be a big house, an apartment, tent or car...it is where love is.

When I pull in the driveway after a very busy day I'm so grateful to be home where it is very quiet and peaceful and I can do whatever I want whenever I want. It is such a joy to have a home to come to. My home is in a very central location and the climate is perfect year round.

Home Sweet Home to me means security, peace, rest. I love nothing more than getting back home at the end of a busy school day, donning my pajamas and just hanging out. Piddling on the weekends at home is my favorite thing to do. And resting my head on my pillow at night is something I am grateful for each and every time. Before falling asleep, I whisper Thank you God, Thank you God, Thank you God! Blessings to you, Tammy

Susan,
Home is one of my favorite words. I have a little saying that is hanging on my wall by Maya Angelou that says "HOME CAN HEAL. THERE IS HEALING IN HOME." Every time I walk in the door, I smile and sigh because I'm home. Love to you today, Susan.
