Trickling Water
Sometimes it takes years to make a yard into how one envisions it to be.
Hubs and I have been in our current house for nine years now.
This summer I told him the backyard finally makes me happy.
At long last, when looking out to the backyard I see two bird feeders, a birdbath, a rose arbor, a picnic table set and, best of all, a trickling fountain.
It's just soothing.
When birdies flit down and take a quick drink from the fountain, it thrills me.
I put pieces of copper piping in the fountain this year to keep the water from turning green and so far it's working!
Even when I'm inside the house, the sounds of the fountain come through the screened door in the kitchen.
I'm doing a lot of thanking God this summer and that is always good.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE?
Hi Susan, that fountain is beautiful! My husband makes concrete birdbaths, that are similar,it would be fun to try and make a fountain out of one. I enjoy the seasons. Summer my fave tho:)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the wonderful year round climate of Southern California!
ReplyDeleteNice Susan. Water is so calming and cooling on a hot day. Pretty shape too.
ReplyDeleteThe trickle of a fountain is a tickle to my soul.
ReplyDeleteSusan I love the fountain! they always are so soothing. I love to see the deer in my yard that makes me happy.

Your fountain is wonderful! Besides the variety of climate during the various seasons, I most enjoy the fact that we live in an apartment, and maintenance issues are someone else's responsibility!! These days, we prefer to allow someone else that privilege. :-) Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love the sound of trickling water. Your fountain is lovely. I guess my little water fountain/pond is my favorite backyard thing, and I'm hoping to do some patio work soon. When we moved into our present home, 24 years ago, we enjoyed a vast deck, including a hot-tub area. Through the years, we made changes and, eventually tore out the whole deck and hot-tub. I hope to have a smaller deck installed one of these years. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteWe have been in OUR house for nine years, too, Susan! It is an on-going project to have things the way they are envisioned.:-) We have a bit over an acre, and though it takes some mowing time, it is plenty of room for a 30 x 60 foot vegetable garden that my husband enjoys working. The rainy weather we have had this entire year has been a sort of "downer," but there are a few things that seem to be doing all right. We just have to wait and see.

Very elegant looking fountain; the sound of trickling water is always so soothing and calming, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about my yard is the lake and mountains which after 30 years never fail to inspire me and fill me with joy and gratitude in every season. Winter, summer, spring or fall; my heart belongs to all---the seasons.
Love that fountain! I love that on one side of us is a Great lake (Erie) and directly in front of us is a Nature preserve. I step out my front door and am greeted by deer on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: I like your source. For me it is very relaxing to hear the water passage. My house I like. It is a very big family home with garden. As I have little girls garden is all depressed and I have no flowers. My favorite place is the front porch. Every day I thank God for letting me have this wonderful home. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteTrickling water is so therapeutic...studies show that fishermen who fish in a stream over rocks can lower their blood pressure!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that. First of all the copper keeps it from turning green and the running water keeps it fresh enough for the birds to drink out of it? I had no idea how to do that.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have one too.
Let's see the thing I love about my house - I just feel so good in it.
Love, sandie
Oh sweetie.. I can just hear that water trickling and the serene and soothing happiness of looking at the birds drinking out of that fresh water. I love your garden too! Thanks for sharing. Thanks for your sweet and generous visit. Big hugs,

That looks so beautiful, and it's very soothing to hear water trickling isn't it. What I love about my home is the trees and garden outside the apartment house.
