Bird Cage Re-Vamp

The look of bird cages as decorative accents is quite appealing.

In magazine pages and on Pinterest, one can see dozens upon dozens of bird cages used to decorate.

So when I found a wrought iron bird cage in a thrift store for less than $7.00, I had to buy it.

Then came the revamp!  First, I painted  it white with a brush dipped in paint, rather than spray paint.

Luckily, I had some faux roses. Even though they are peach color instead of pink, I used them to decorate the top of the cage.

Hubs glued a little peachy bird inside to complete the look.

The only thing missing is bird song!

The cage is now hanging from an enclosed side porch that I just love.

If interested, you can read another post on the bird cage, shortly after its purchase, and before the revamp, here.

  2. Wow, your revamp looks swell, Susan! Those roses look real. Why did you choose to paint with a brush instead of spray?

  7. I couldn't resist a photo of a new birdcage (tall & very narrow) at the shop we visited yesterday!

Yours is GREAT - and the price was right, too.

I am curious about why you brushed rather than sprayed. Just what was on hand????? It turned out beautifully!

  8. Just love your revamped bird cage. The peach color is great against the white cage. You could play a recording of birdsong for a finishing touch.

I do have a white birdcage also and decorate it for the different seasons. It is sitting on a side table and sometimes I put a plant or even cards inside. Sometime a faux bird will sit outside and sometimes inside and sometimes on top. They are a fun decoration and add a certain atmosphere to a room. An enclosed porch sounds like a great place for your birdcage.
