Collecting colored glass is a mufti-faceted hobby that never comes to an end.
A sister of mine had a gorgeous cobalt blue glass collection that she no longer displayed.
She packed away the pieces in a plastic bin in her cellar.
Being the shameless scavenger that I am, I humbly asked her she'd consider gifting me with her cobalt blue glass and she said "yes!"
Did you hear the screeches coming from western Massachusetts when the night to go after the glass pieces finally arrived?
The many shapes and sizes of glass now line the shelves of the kitchen windows.
It's a beautiful collection and my heart overflows with gratitude for my sister's generosity.
Today we are joining Thrifty Things Friday from Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove and Linda's blog, A La Carte.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLORED GLASS?
When you no longer want to display this cobalt collection please please give them to your sister's God daughter..MY daughter. She loves to collect blue cobalt. I do not have any collections of glass. I live in earthquake country!

I love Your beauties :) I also have several colored glass collections. So hard to pick a favorite but I'll say My red.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite glass collection is the Pink Dogwood Depression glass. I seem to have such a collection of dishes that it is a blessing I haven't collected much glassware.:-) This cobalt blue is beautiful, though, and you have it displayed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteSusan, you have so many lovely collections, and you seem to have an eye for putting things together to enhance their beauty! There are many colors that I would love to have, but my hubs prefers to keep things simple, so we go with clear glass, with only an occasional bright piece to liven things up a bit. I do enjoy using glassware that has a pattern on it, such as the lovely things we see at Christmastime, with holly and wreaths printed on them. That will be here sooner than we think!
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: blue glass is beautiful and original. I read that it is a hobby. I like your collection. I have some blue glasses. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite color of cut glass too. Looks lovely there. I don't have Windows like that to display glass. I am trying to think where I could put some! It's beautiful! sandie
ReplyDeleteHi Susan: Had you on my heart this morning so I thought I would come by for a visit. I love the blue glass. Now I know what that noise was the other day, you screaming with joy! Sending love and hugs your way. Blessings, Martha

ReplyDeleteHooray for you Susan - love the light hitting it! Me I like all colored glass - depression glass especially!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have a generous sister...what a beautiful gift...I am a little envious. :) The blue is so pretty and you have the perfect place to display them.
ReplyDeleteLovely! They must be stunning when the sunlight hits them.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any collections of this type, but do have some teacup/saucers. Fenton glass is a favorite - especially purple. If I did collect, that's what I'd choose.
Susan you and I share a love of glass and especially the colored glass. I love your cobalt collection from your sister! I always envy your cranberry collection when you display it. I guess my blue glass collection is my favorite right now. Thanks for sharing at TTF this week.
