The "Sinking" Cat

Okay feline experts.

I have question that's been boggling my mind.

Our 17 year-old cat has begun doing something new.

She's  never exhibited this  behavior before.

Walking into the bathroom the other night, enroute to brush my teeth, I switched on the light.

At first I gasped because I wasn't sure about what I saw.

It was Honey Cat, all curled up in the bathroom sink.

She manage to squeak out a little  sound and lifted her head  above  the rim of the sink.

Other than that, she was content to stay right where  she was.

Does anyone know anything about why a cat of 17 years would suddently choose the bathroom sink as her own special bed?

WHAT IS ONE FUNNY BEHAVIOR YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT A CAT DEMONSTRATED?

  1. I am no feline expert exactly, but I know cats have an entirely independent way of thinking.:-) Was she ever bathed in that sink? I know many people say not to wash a cat, though we did wash ours when he was a kitten. He always LOVED to be at the sink when the water was running from the faucet. He would play with it!

  3. Lovely and graceful cat. Is she possibly a bit warm and the sink feels cool? Has a slight fever? Just guessing.

  5. If she's never done this before, and if she seems sluggish, it might be good to get her checked out. Our cats have always loved to lie curled up ANYWHERE, even the sink, unless the water was dripping. Some of them would turn around so they could see the water and swat at the drops as they fell. When they'd get tired of the game, they would just position themselves so they were not hit by the drops, then would go to sleep peacefully. If you're SURE that this is a new behavior, you might want to watch her for other symptoms of a possible illness.

  6. Lots of cats love to sleep in cozy places like the sink bowl. My cat used to love a trickle of water fromt he sink. I think your baby has found a new place to roost, and it probably feels cool. They also like to sleep inside paper bags fromt he grocery store or small boxes. Try that and have some fun.

  7. I think cats love cozy spots and the sink is a cozy spot. I agree to watch her and make sure she isn't sick. Charlie loves to drink from the faucet!!

  8. My cats loved to lay on the cement in the shade, perhaps it feels cool to her.

  9. Sweet baby.....do not worry about it unless she chooses to use it as a potty.

  10. Oh, this is too funny, Susan. That would have surprised me too. I don't know much about cats, as I am a dog person, but I guess we all want to make changes in our life....maybe your cat wanted to do the same hehehe.

  12. Oh my gosh, Susan, I have pictures of Baby doing the same thing! I'll have to post those sometime soon with a link back to your post! I think in the winter she does it because the sink stays warm (the heating/ac vent is right under the vanity), and I think she does it in the summer to stay cool! She doesn't do it all the time, but on occasion! Too funny!!! She is SO cute!
