One afternoon, Christine, a dear friend of mine, and I went on an excursion.
Part of it was a stop in a kind of antiques store. (We both love old things for the home!)
When I spotted a painting of an adorable, smiling child with a zany hairdo, it made me smile.
I told Christine that if she bought that for her house, it would make every guest smile.
She bought it and, sure enough, it's hard to look at the image of the darling child in the painting without smiling.
Having an inquisitive mind, it also evokes questions in my mind when I see it such as,
"Who was this child?"
"Where did she live?"
"Who painted this and where?"
"Who was the artist?"
To tell you the truth, I doubt we'll ever know the answers to those questions but, in the meantime, Christine got herself a lovely "bargain."
DO YOU LIKE THE PAINTING IN TODAY'S POST?

Sweet picture...very bright...lemon yellow like sunshine is very popular around here now! Sleet and snow last night...zero temps and frozen pipes this morning, but only in garage we think. Ah...winter is getting old! ha,ha.
Oh I do love this painting and yes, it made me smile. :)
Yes indeedy, I like it very much and wonder who is the child and who painted him or her. Did the artist sign the painting? We could do some research if so.
A cute kid with a cheeky grin you can't go wrong with that.

How adorable!!!! I love browsing antique shops! STILL waiting for spring, Susan! Will it ever arrive? ... Donna
It's a sweet one :)
I love the painting. How could you look at it and not smile? Such unrestrained happiness.
The painting does make one smile; children are so endearing and the sunny yellow colors are wonderful to gaze upon. Good bargain.
When I go to Cracker Barrel - they have all sorts of antiques and old pictures. I always ask myself - who were these people - what were they thinking - what did they do in life - you know what I mean?
Oh that is precious!!!!!!
Glad your friend got this.
Sad, that the painter didn't get the recognition, he/she "should" have.
If they did, we would know this painting. Sad... That their talent should have gone, un-noticed... Mostly....
It is a precious painting. You can almost "hear" the child giggling!
John is sick with a stomach virus so I am not posting this week.
Hope you have a nice evening.
Wow, that does make you smile! So cute, and I bet the child it was based on is even cuter in person. Thanks for making me smile today!
Have a great week! :)
Yes, it most definitely is a painting that makes me smile! How could it not make everyone smile - unless maybe the guy who doesn't like the Christmas tree on my porch. LOL Lovely painting!
