Elinor, his high school sweetheart, and he were co-valedictorians of their class.
Apparently, she was a "shy, quiet girl" who, quite luckily, liked poetry. They eventually married and had six children over the course of a 40 year union.
"Together wing to wing and oar to oar" were his words.
Tragically, two of the children died early in life.
All of the information in this post came from framed boards hanging from the walls of the Stone House, one of five different Vermont farms where the family resided.
Today, visitors can walk from room to room and read all about the poet.
If interested, a previous post on this poet can be read here.http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2014/07/little-stone-house-museum-in-vermont.html
We will have one more post on Robert Frost so if this kind of information interests you, come on back!

I enjoy these posts on Frost. I did not know about his personal life.
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend, Susan.
Love going on these little side trips wit you, Susan.
Hello from Spain: in my country poets lived very poorly. I love to learn about the life of poets. They are great creators. Keep in touch
I think they paint pictures with words and create beauty that lives long after them.

Hi Susan. I recently purchased a Robert Frost poetry book at the thrift shop...I always love hearing about the artists/poets etc...
Just makes them more human I guess..
I loved learning more about Robert Frost and his family. Thanks, Susan.
I'm in your part of the world this week for the RWA conference in San Antonio. I am loving seeing some of the architecture and history displayed in prominent places around the city.
Blessings,
Dotti :)
