Saturday's Post: Old-Fashioned Mail Box



Anything old-fashioned usually makes a hit with me.

 That includes mailboxes.

 Standard, dull boxes with no pizazz of any kind are not to my liking.

 I like old-fashioned brass mailboxes with heavy engraving.

 Where to find them at affordable prices nowadays? 

I do not know the answer. Do you?

 While strolling down a street in Denver, Colorado, on vacation, I spotted the mailbox shown at the top of this post. 

 Now that was a cool mailbox.

 If it were mine, I'd paint it a brassy gold.  Sigh.

    I love to get anything in the mail from my family since I live so far away from them all...postcards, notes, cards of any kind are my favorite things.

    About once a season e have to replace ours due to mischievous juveniles who think it entertaining to rip off the door or bash it. I like to one in your photo. That might deter the delinquents.

    I love it when I get a surprise in the mail! Sometimes a sweet card, sometimes a gift but whatever the surprise is, I love it!

    I like this mailbox too...always have liked this style. Alas, mine is ordinary and somewhat crooked. I throw a pretty cover on it and go on!

    Ooh, what a gorgeous mailbox!

    For me, the best part of getting mail (a letter or card, not bills or junk) is knowing that someone cared enough about me to send something.

    Since the advent of the internet not many people send things through the mail. I miss getting mail. I used to write quite a few letters to friends and family living far away and so looked forward to receiving their replies.

    The last piece of mail I got that wasn't a bill or flyer, etc. was a sweet handwritten thank you from my nephew. He is off to college in Boston now and wrote to thank us for our graduation gift.

    The mailbox in your post is lovely; evocative of days gone by when mail was the main way of staying in touch.

    Hello from Spain: in my mailbox urbanization are all equal. I like going to the mailbox. I like to receive letters on paper. Your mailbox is very elegant. In my country mailboxes sold in stores construction. Keep in touch

    Here in AZ we have mail units which are big unattractive metal boxes that you need a key for. It is due to the huge problem of identity theft here by illegal immigrants. Sigh. I can't wait for a traditional mailbox. The one you featured is a beauty.

    oh how pretty is this.

    We have mail units now too.Not any attraction baring. The bonus of it all. It has a huge container inside for mailing and receiving parcels so one does not have to make trips to the post office. We have our own key. That is great in the winter months.

    I love getting anything in the mailbox! I have joined a pan pal letter writing group within my tea group. It's been so fun to actually write letters and receive letters.
