A True Winter Wonderland

The day before Thanksgiving, 2014, we got more than a turkey!

We got about a foot of snow!

Yup.  It was a big storm.

A lot of people were without electricity for many hours.

With all my heart, I'm so grateful we were spared.

Despite the inconvenience of this early-in-the-season snow, it really was beautiful.

It frosted everything like some kind of a magical winter wonderland.

Honestly, it was hard to stop snapping photographs because I wanted to share them with you.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE HOMEBOUND DURING A WINTER STORM?

  1. Lovely photos of such sweet scenes. When the snow here keeps me housebound I read a good book and sip a cup of hot tea.

  3. ..the snow truly is beautiful Susan..... wonderful photos...
I've never been in enough snow to be snowed in....just a little light fall when I've visited relatives in the colder parts of New South Wales...
I like to think I'd be curled up in front of a lovely fire with a hot chocolate and a good book...or my computer...

  4. Hello from Spain: in my city never snows. Nice pictures with snow. In bad weather I like staying at home watching television or computer. Keep in touch

  6. Hot chocolate and a good book are great companions were I to ever be housebound due to a winter storm - or cooking something very warming on the stove! Chili sounds great!

Beautiful pictures of the snowfall you received.

  7. I don't get winter where I live ..just a little rain and I like to curl up near the fireplace, sip a hot cup of tea and read a great book. Love the pictures but glad I'm not there..ha.

  8. Dear Susan, bless you and all who are in the snowy areas of the country. While it is beautiful, it can also be dangerous and often leaves people without power. Thank God you were spared.

We seldom get homebound by a winter storm, but it has happened. Now a hurricane ... that's happened more than once. Me no like.

  9. I absolutely LOVE being snowbound in my house! Some soup simmering on the stove, a fire in the fireplace and some peace and quiet are wonderful. Time for reflection and day dreaming is truly a gift in the business of our everyday lives. Of course, losing power is not much fun, but a fire in the fireplace can still be enjoyed, and I have to say that our electric company is very quick to respond and seem to restore power very quickly.

Bring on the white, beautiful and magical snow!

When winter comes we get out. I love it when the weather cools off and we can turn of the A/C.

  13. Never been in that position, a lot of our storms are in summer lots of thunder and lightning and often very heavy rain but they don't last long.
I've only seen snow in other countries or down in our Snowy mountains, but never in Sydney.
