Clean Sweep!

Hello Dear Blog Peeps:

I don't know about you, but after the busier than ever Christmas season, the desire to make a clean sweep through the house starts to take over.

The Christmas decorations must come down, be packed in plastic bins and hauled up to the attic.

No more twinkling lights, no more Christmas trees in several windows, no more Christmas tree dishes on the dining room table, and no more red and green.

Out with clutter and in with clean and neat surfaces.

Oh trust me, it's a dreadful chore to take everything down and put it away and it's very, very time-consuming.

But once it's done, it'll feel good.

So you know what I'll be doing today! You'll probably be doing the same.

Good luck!

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE NEW YEAR?

  1. I'm cleaning house too Susan. I put some of my decorations away today. Going to do little by little so it won't seem like such a mountainous
task. I went through several other drawers too and made two boxes to give away to people. Yes I love to clean for the new year.

  2. Susan, I've already taken all my decorations down, but I really miss my tree when I do. It held up really well this year.

About the new year - I don't make resolutions. I just try to live each day with gratitude.

Wishing you a wonderful new year, Susan.

    love,

  4. Susan , I dreaded the task of putting away the decorations. But I took it one room at a time, over several days. It did not seem like such a monster of a task.
This is how I am going to handle cleaning as well and the fun kind of decorating.

  5. Hi Susan,
Your pair of lamps are really pretty. I have seen the same amber color (is it poppy pattern fenton?) in the gone with the wind lamp style with both globes being round but have never seen the one's you have. How fun!
    Happy New Year!

  6. I hate cleaning. Spent 5 hours in the kids bedroom the other day ... lots of Jingles hair and dust. Yusef arrives tomorrow and will be here two weeks. Can't keep Jingles off his bed. I really should get some things done today, the last day of winter break. Ugh! I really don't want to go back to the salt mines at all. Best wishes, Tammy

  7. My friend says her house feels naked when Christmas comes down. Yes, but the space and emptiness is also a relief, right? Dark, dark days here are getting to folks...snow with sun would be a nice winter change. Meanwhile, we push on with the new year! I have beef vegetable soup in the pot and head to my office for books...reading and writing!

  8. Beautiful amber lamps; they must look lovely when lit.

I have ALL my Christmas decorations still up! Our son and grandaughter are coming for a visit tomorrow so I decided to keep Christmas in the house for a few more days. We had a green Christmas and there is absolutely no snow on the ground, but we are expecting a few inches this evening, so we will sit by the tree have a fire and watch it snow tonight! Finally some snow!

I think Monday will be my "cleaning, taking down the tree" day.

  10. Hello from Spain: effectively. On January 6 I keep all the Christmas decor. You know that in my country we celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings bearing gifts. After that day ends Christmas. Command and do house cleaning. Keep in touch

  13. Hi Susan... I've taken down the Christmas decorations and they are all packed away.... EXCEPT for the twinkling Christmas lights..... we decided to keep them up and switch them on for Mum's birthday on Jan 9..... hubby said he'll take them down then,, I hope so... he once kept them up (switched off)for 2 years straight... and I hate the 'dead' look of them just hanging there!!!!
    Your amber lamps are beautiful....
    Hugs and Blessings... Barb xxx

  14. That lamp is a great piece! Completely unique – I can truthfully say that I’ve never seen a lamp quite like it. I completely understand your pain. Cleaning after the holiday season is a rough task, but the payoff of a clean and organized house is more than worth the effort.
