On a thrift store jaunt last summer, a little fellow holding a bunny caught my eye.
If the truth be told, someone had given them a pretty bad paint job.
The boy's hair and the bunny had been painted a garish turquoise color and the rest of them was covered with black paint.
Most shoppers looked at the sculpture, grimaced and walked by but, in my mind's eye, I could picture them differently.
Who could argue with a $2.79 price tag for a garden sculpture?
With a couple coats of exterior white paint and a bit of sanding, the little boy and his bunny are quite adorable.
Isn't he a cutie pie, sitting among the purplish blue muscari, yellow daffodils, multi-colored tulips and a raspberry colored geranuium?

Oh, sweet! How many of us start out as garish sculptures just in need of a new coat of paint? :)
He is adorable and I love finds like that! I don't have a garden since I rent here in Fl but someday I'd love to again!
I don't have a bunny sculpture but I have a REAL bunny outside in my back yard every day around six p.m.
How fortunate for Bunny Boy that you could look past his temporary exterior to see the possibility!
I do have a few garden sculptures - nothing fancy, I'm afraid. I have a St. Frances, a set of 3 mushrooms, a small squirrel & a bird or two.
He looks perfect surrounded by your gorgeous flowers!!! I had a small menagerie of turtles and a toad near our itty bitty pond that belonged to my mom but no longer. Happy Memorial Day weekend!
He is a cutie and what a great price. No I don't have a statue - love your flowers around him.
That was a good find. Now I know what those blue flowers are called. They are so pretty.
Oh Susan, I love your bunny boy statue. With a few coats of white paint, he looks adorable. Yes, I have a few of my own. One is a mother and her three children that my sister gave me, and it's very special to me. And another is a little mermaid boy statue that I really love.
I just love to see precious garden statues. Thank you for sharing this with us.
love, ~Sheri
Gosh, you got a bargain! Nice job seeing and fixing. My favorite piece is a large angel on my deck. When my dad died and I returned home, she and a large hibiscus waited for me from my friends. She has such bittersweet memories every day.
