Flower-Covered Cross for Easter

A faux flower-covered cross, just in time for Easter, is a gentle reminder of the true meaning of the season.

A few months ago, I assisted one of my sisters in cleaning part of her basement.

She wanted to throw out a twig cross so I rescued it, bringing it home.

It had Christmas decorations on it so they were all removed, revealing just the plain cross.

After getting some artificial, colorful flowers from my daughter's stash, I brought them to my sister who is an artist.

She also got the stripped cross back with my request to cover it with the flowers.

She put them on with the assistance of a hot glue gun.

The bright colors are quite eye-catching and I decided to take down the bunny wreath from the door and replace it with the floral cross.

The wreath, also made by my sister, is on the front porch wall.

Barb did a great job, don't you think?

HOW IS YOUR EASTER SEASON GOING SO FAR?

Oh Barbie did a beautiful job on that cross Susan. I'm sure it was just as healing for her as it is for you and all your guests.

Very pretty! Nice that you could recycle it. I am not in Easter mode yet, still have St. Patrick's Day to celebrate (I'm Irish). Then on to Easter! :) Kit

That is beautiful - I never thought about doing something like that.

I have had a sad week Susan. My dear friend had open heart surgery a couple weeks ago. Did really well. Went home on day ten. She was so happy to get home. But Thursday she started having breathing problems and went back to the hospital. They tried to help her all day. But her heart gave out. I will be attending her funeral tomorrow.

I know you have lost a few friends this past year and understand how sad it is. You just hate to part with someone you love.

The cross looks lovely with all the flowers. Great idea for your front door.

I have been making progress with the winter "take down" and the spring "put up". Worked on the two fireplace mantels and am enjoying the results. Also changed out some winter pictures for spring/summer scenes. Nice to see all the lighter colors.
